Funny you should mention that name. That was the name I had in mind as well. However, the general consensus that I'm receiving is that the Katy community wants to get away from the snake-related moniker.

Not to mention the riots! :p

On a serious note, since there are 6, going on 7 high schools in Katy, and since there are some serious cross-town high school football rivalries, the safe bet is to choose a name and colors that don't appeal to any specific high school. Which is the reason for the teal that you saw on the Copperheads last season.

From what I understand, we've received some really good submissions for our name-the-team contest. It's going to be INTENSE!
