NEWS FROM THE NWFA HEADQUARTERS

Things are poppin' around here with lots of attention coming in from the corporate world! Finally, after all of these years and thousands of hours and dollars spent trying to get their attention...we have! We are 99% done with a deal with a major sponsor and will announce it as soon as the ink has dried. It's important to remember that a deal isn't done until it's signed, sealed and delivered but we feel that will happen.

We have also landed a TV deal! And, while it's not with a major network like ESPN or ABC, it is national TV and it's on the Dish network. Our incredible Gender Bowl will be broadcast on this network in December so please make sure you read all of our newsletters and check out our website so you know the dates and times. In addition to the Gender Bowl, the network will also broadcast many of our team's games and the 2007 championship game. This is a done deal and the signed contracts are in our office.

We have also signed up Brainpads as a national partner. This company produces mouthguards that are proven to help reduce head injuries and concussions. ALL of the players, from teams in our league that have signed up for this partnership, are going to get them for free!

We have also signed a deal with the Phenom Factory who make the compression suit. Please check out our website soon for more information on this great piece of gear! NWFA players will be receiving a discount on these items.

We have also started working with a company that will provide a discount medical plan which will provide medical benefits to those players who want to play in our league and do not have health insurance! More details will be available from our owners once the program is set up. Again, keep checking our website for the latest details.

We are also negotiating with a major company regarding huge internet presence and as this deal unfolds, we'll share it with you!

The 2007 World Championship of Women's Football will be held in Nashville, Tennessee on July 21st. Details will be available soon!

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL GETS
BROADCAST DEAL

It's taken the sport of women's football over six years to accomplish it,
but Catherine Masters and the National Women's Football Association has done it.

"I've known since I started this league that one of the main things we
needed to get more fans and revenues is a TV deal. Now, we have one and we couldn't be happier," she states.

The deal is with CoLours TV, America's first and only Multicultural Network, channel 9407 on the Dish Network. CoLours TV and the NWFA have been in discussions for over a year and now that the deal is done, both parties are moving forward to make the televised debut of the NWFA a rousing success.

"We are excited to be involved in this groundbreaking TV event. Airing the NWFA games will give CoLours TV a significant place in the history of sports." Tracy J. Winchester, President/CEO of CoLours TV

CoLours TV will air many of the NWFA's team's games as well as the 2007 World Championship game. A complete schedule of games will be posted on the league's website in early 2007. However, prior to broadcasting regular NWFA games, CoLours TV will be running a promotional spot for the NWFA and airing the Gender Bowl.

The Gender Bowl was produced by well known Hollywood producer and director, Joel Raatz. An all star team from the NWFA played men in the first ever football "Battle of the Sexes". The dates and times for the broadcast of the Gender Bowl will listed on the NWFA's global website, womensfootballcentral.com.

Executive Producer of the Gender Bowl Joel Raatz says he chose the NWFA to be the first group of women to play men in football because of their talent, dedication, and their courage to make a statement in the sport of football. "The Founder of the league Catherine Masters, was critical in making this event happen and offered vast access to media support for the project," states Raatz.

Raatz states that he was extremely impressed at how professional and organized the players and management were. Raatz intends to work with the NWFA in the "Gender Bowl II-The Rematch" and several other projects.

"The NWFA is a strong organization that is growing everyday and I would like to say that I helped to promote their league. I expect in the next 2 years to see NWFA football games on major sports channels across the world. The women that showed up to the LA Coliseum to play men in a football game were as dedicated to the sport of football as any man that I have either played the game with or watched on TV," he adds.

Bringing the sport of women's football to television is a big step for the National Women's Football Association. Masters believes that once the network audience sees it, her league will absolutely rocket. "Once people see our league on TV on a regular basis, the interest will really increase. We have some amazing athletes playing this game and now we'll get a chance to showcase them."

I'll be eagerly awaiting a TV schedule.

In the meantime, CM needs to concentrate on parity and stability quality control measures during preseason camp.

If she wants each team to have in writing 6 available dates for 4 possible home games that's fine. Just don't make the schedule out until 2-3 weeks before the opening day. Use the preseason camp as the make it or break it test for making out the final NWFA 1 schedule.

The problem at this level, the commissioner makes the mistake of making out the schedule months in advance.

...that the indoor leagues' problems start when they DON'T prepare the schedule a good bit of time in advance, but with NWFA, it's better if they WAIT to finalize the schedule!

The NIFL doesn't have suitable funding demanded of their teams from the get-go. So it doesn't matter when the NIFL makes out their schedule there will be problems. And as far as players are concerned, as long as there's pay involved, the will always be folks willing to showup for those jobs to fill the roster spots.

The NWFA teams rely virtually exclusively on finding enough players willing to pay +$300 each for an eight game season -- pay to play. Preseason camp is the showup or shutup test. Those that said they are going out for the team must show-up at this time. Anything resembling a commitment from players before preseason camp is nothing more than lip service.

As long as each team reserves a high school field for 6 Saturday night dates for 4 eventual opponents who are yet to be determined, I would think the commissioner should be able to draw up a schedule within 48 hours of some arbitrary cutoff date a week or two into preseason camp that would fit with each team's 4 out of 6 reserved dates.

Each team gets a phone call from the commissioner who asks ... "what roster numbers did you get these past two weeks for your camp?" If the coach's response is less than 30, the commissioner tells the coach/owner you have to sit out the year.

I don't see a problem with the above scenario do you? Why isn't this being done?
