In Milwaukee they would play at either U.S. Cellular Arena or the Bradley Center and in Green Bay they would play at the Resch Center. I think the NLL would work in either one of these cities. What do you think?

If I were from New York or Boston, I'd probably say "Nah, people from Green Bayh dohnt know squat ahbout Lahcrosse" But since I'm from Michigan, I'll take a more unbiased view.

These things need to happen:

1. Public Forum - DO REASEARCH! If you want a franchise to succeed, you need people in the seats. You need enthused sponsors willing to go out on a limb. People arent going to go to something they don't want to see, and sponsors aren't going to well...sponsor, if they don't get a return on their investment. Use this to guage interest in your product.

2. Aggressive Marketing - Brand awareness is key to any commercially available product, from Coke to Professional Indoor Lacrosse. people aren't going to attend your event if they don't know about it.

3. Increase Entertainment Value - Lacrosse alone probably isn't going to sell tickets in Green Bay. When someone buys a ticket, make it worth the value. A little imagination, creativity, and knowing when to not go toooo far go a long way, especially in the business of sports.

That's the basics, sure there's more to it than that, but I can only type so much, so I'll let others expound upon this. I like to share the spotlight, ya know?

You know, I'm trying to get a multipurpose arena built in my hometown of Racine.

If we get one, I might try to make the NLL a tenant there, along with a UHL hockey team, D-League basketball (would be the Bucks' affiliate), and/or a CIFL indoor football team.

Where should I start planning?

First of all, leave the tenant searching until you have support for the arena.
The Public Forum is always a good first step. You want to know what the taxpayers (assuming this arena will be built using taxpayer dollars) think.
They, like any investor, want to be sure this is worth thier time and money.
On the other hand, if you're trying to get private funding for the venue, this can be a bit trickier. The members of your local business community are probably smart people. they aren't going to go out on this sort of limb, unless they are convinced they will get a good return on their investment. Give them some sort of incentive. Sponsorship packages, naming rights, that sort of thing....

Just My 2 Cents....

The nll will be leaning away from the small markets ie racine. They would be a prime target for nll2 in 2010.
