There may be some more new developments in the IFL concerning 2007 expansion. Things could get REALLY interesting in the coming weeks. And I mean GOOD interesting, not bad interesting. The IFL is about to get a lot more INTENSE!

Stay tuned!

Yeah, from what I hear the league is adding Frisco and Katy in '07.

Fort Worth, Lafayette, Tyler, and Texarkana are a few other possibilities...

Like the above poster said, STAY TUNED!

Actually, of the four you listed, only one of those is a possibility. At least as far as 2007 expansion is concerned.

But what I was referring to in my initial post concerns something that, if it happens, will blow everyone away.

It would truly be INTENSE!

Okaaay...I'll just wait 'till then.

The only question I have is, when it comes, can you handle the INTENSEity?

Looking forward to the news. It's been a pretty quiet offseason for the IFL, but as we've seen from other leagues the past month, that's not all bad.

It's official. The IFL has added Katy and Frisco in 2007 and possibly El Paso in 2008. They may not be done expanding this year either. Full release:

Good news for Katy, the Merrell Center, and the IFL. I wouldn't be surprised if the new IFL team was able to capture nearly all of the sponsorships the Copperheads had. The thing about Katy is it's a very tight knit community, an oddity considering how rapidly it's also growing. Thus the former Copperhead sponsors will likely line up behind the new team as they now have one nice and close to home.

It should be very intersting to say the least. When it comes to sponsors and season ticket holder, the Copperheads already have the contacts and would more than likely have that money locked up.

I can guarantee you that that money will not follow the Copperheads to Cy-Fair. Sure, you will have a VERY small amount of season ticket holders and sponsors that will go with the Copperheads. But the money is definately not locked up. Also, the Copperheads don't have the contacts. The man with those contacts is staying in Katy and has been retained by the new Katy IFL franchise.

So I understand you are saying no sponsor from the copperheads or any seasont ticket from the copperheads will follow them to the new location right?

Is that what I wrote? If that's what you read, then maybe you need to go back and take basic 1st grade reading all over again. Because I could've sworn that I wrote the following:

"Sure, you will have a VERY small amount of season ticket holders and sponsors that will go with the Copperheads."

Was that too difficult for you to comprehend? I can use simpler words if you need me to. Then again, I'm not sure there's an easier way to say that.

The thing is in your statement you are saying two different things. You guarentee money will not follow but then say a very small amount of season ticket holders and money follow. Its either one or the other and no need for insults, just a clarification was needed. So now you are saying money people and sponsors will follow. What do you classify as a very small amount? Numbers please.

To give actual numbers would be unrealistic at this point. It doesn't benefit corporate sponsors in Katy to spend their money on the Copperheads 20 miles away in Cy-Fair. Nor does it benefit the those corporate sponsors in Cy-Fair to put their money on the Katy team. The fact is that the individual communites of Katy and Cy-Fair are so big that it isn't necessary, and in most cases makes no sense, to market to consumers that simply aren't going to spend their money on your product.

The market research has been done "malepig." And the bottom line is that both the Copperheads and the Katy IFL team are without a doubt going to be greatly successful in their respective markets.

Regardless of what you might believe, I do wish the Copperheads, Bryan Blake and the af2 the best of success in Cy-Fair. And I'm confident that they wish the same for myself and Katy as well.

Please forgive me for my insulting response. It's often difficult to guage one's "tone of voice" on these message boards. No hard feelings.

I hear Abilene and Texarkana are in the negotiation process.

One question: Would Texarkana play in Texas or Arkansas? :D

Actually, the question would be; would Texarkana play in Texas, Arkansas, or Louisiana? The name Texarkana is derived from all three of those states. I learned that on wikipedia! ;)

Anyhoo, the Abilene deal fell through, at least for 2007. And, because the 8th expansion team has come on board, Texarkana is holding off until 2008.

I haven't heard of an "8th expansion team".

When are we gonna find out?

I always thought it would be cool if Midland had a team. Talk about an intense rivalry, but we don't really have an arena except the chap center and I don't know if the floor is big enough, the ceiling high enough or if the is enough concessions.

I know it's to close to Odessa but it's just a fun idea. I'll just keep driving to Odessa for my indoor football.
