I did not get to go to the game since it was in Columbus; however pointstreak does have the stats up...
First win for Florida...4-3
5 of the 7 goals were power play goals with florida going 2 - 16....if we get 16 powerplays in one game we need to get more than 2 goals out of it...
looks like tommy stewart did not even bring the full camp team...only 13 players and two were goalies...terry denike (returning goalie) did not even play goalie and balser was between the pipes the whole night (30 saves on 33 shots)
only two of the eleven skaters were returners...zoryk and rochefort...
hopefully stewart got a good look at the ones trying out as many of the returners were not there (Keller, Sich, Miller, Geerlinks, Mnatsakanov)
Other players that I think were under contract and were not there were: Thomas, Valdes, Bernier, Bain, Larson, and Gent.
Players listed that I had not seen an article about them being signed were: Grant and Painter
The one thing I would really like to hear about from someone that was there is how did Matt Balsar (goalie) get an unassisted game winning goal?

Blaser I think that he got the game winning goal probably when columbus pulled the goalie. I dont know because I live in fl and they wont be having any radio coverage.

The goal came at 14:44 in the third period so I don't think they would have pulled the goalie with over five minutes left to play. Also pointstreak did not list "EN" next to the goal which they usually do for an empty net goal.

Florida 4 - Columbus 3
Knoxville 6 - Huntsville 4
Jacksonville 7 - Pee Dee 4
Richmond 3 - Fayetteville 0
the biggest thing i have noticed is the amount of penalties:
florida v columbus 27 Penalies for 70 minutes
knoxville v huntsville 46 Penalites for 173 minutes
jax v pee dee 27 Penalties for 60 minutes
richmond v fayetteville 32 Penalties for 70 minutes
looks like they are going to be strick in calling penalties...in the richmond game the ref discini called 10 of 32 penalties for interference and seven for hooking...also one for profanity?!?!...whatever...
in the jax peedee game ferguson called 14 of the 27 for hooking...
huntsville v knoxville...wow 173 minutes! they really dont like each other with as many fights as they had...with 17 of 46 penalites being fighting!
in the florida v columbus game a total of 12 of the 27 were for hooking or interference...
looks like all teams are going to have to be aware of the hooking and interference as these are going to be called heavily!

We got shut out? Bummer. Good thing it's preseason. They better not play like that when I'm there for the season opener on Friday night. :)

I went to the open house and I talk to terry denike and he said the back up goalie scored on the power play of columbus. It was a hard shot and beet the goalie.

I talk to Blaser the goalie that will back up for Terry Denike and he said that he did not score the goal. Rob Sich scored the winning goal. A lot of the team was given 00 because they have not been given numbers yet. Those are the words right out of the horse's mouth. And another thing about pointstreak that the gave steve zork a five minute penalty but he was not even playing in the game he was left home to give a chance for other players to be looked at to make the team.
