Just a quick clarification of the facts. We did not have financial difficulties in 2005, just discrepencies with the league. We are NOT the same team as the Lonestars. We are a completely separate LLC; the Lonestars went bankrupt and we bought them and our own membership in the NIFL. We did not play in 2006 because we had no teams in our area to play; ask Katy how thier travel budget was for 2006. We sold a portion of our team assets to AF2 Holdings, including our venue rights. They have chosen not to purchase our LLC and instead, they have renamed the Lubbock team to the Lubbock Renegades, same name as the semi-pro outdoor team that has been here for four years; in fact, they were the 2006 West Texas Football League Champs.

Things didn't need to be turned around. We were ready to go for 2006 and for 2007. This was a good opportunity for our Community.

Amen to that, I had the pleasure of meeting the Gunslingers ownership group and they were nothing short of a class act, so put any thoughts of the old ownership group aside, if it wasnt for the gunslingers owners there might not be indoor or arena football there.

As a fan of indoor football, just following press releases and keeping abreast of forums and such from out here in Portland, Lubbock was put in a bad situation not of their making. I was very glad when the Lonestars were turned around finacially and re-dubbed the Gunslingers. (The name was a throwback to the San Antonio Gunslingers of the USFL for me.) However, when the members of the old Intense league decided to pull out of the NIFL and relaunch IFL, it left Lubbock sitting high and dry with no 'local' opponents as NIFL had promised and advertised. So I was not at all suprised that the Gunslingers went on haiatus last season. Good call on their part. Better that than bounce checks trying to make it to games with non-existent teams 5-6 states away. Sorry the af2 decided not to include you guys all the way. Here's hoping for a long running, successful team!!
