Lexington is a UIF team right now, but yes, the sources seem to be pretty good that Lexington will be going to the af2.

1. Why is this in the AIFA section?
2. They would be a good rival for Louisville (natural in-state) and Fort Wayne (also a UIF transplant)

3) Anything more credible than a blog?
4) I thought they got rejected originally
5) If 4 is true and this is true, has the af2 just completely abandoned having a vetting process at this point?

Yup, the Lexington Horsemen are moving up to af2, very smart choice

One of the extremely rare instances where the af2 move makes fiscal sense...Lexington will make more money in af2 where most all their opponents are Southern teams, of which Lexington is one.

Keeping the Fort Wayne rivalry will help as well, and the addition of Louisville will be very very nice.

This move makes plenty of sense for the Horsemen...though the af2 really is losing a lot of those southern cities now that I think about it...so maybe this is a "remains to be seen."

Either way, it will still make a little more sense locally, just because of Louisville.

BTW, exit322, in that same blog it says the GLIFL is getting Springfield, Hoffman Estates, and one other team to be announced before the next owners meeting.

I know you cannot confirm it, but can you deny it?

Any finalized expansion or team announcements will be made in the upcoming days.

Can anyone explain me, I'm not an old fan of arena and indoor league, the reason why every year there are so many franchises changing nicknames, cities or league?

Like any other business, teams look to do what is best for them. Indoor football is very young (compared to say hockey and baseball), especially at the minor league level, and it will take awhile for things to settle.

A name or location change usually is associated with a change in ownership. Sometimes good people without the funds to continue the building process must sell. The owners may not have the support they thought they would get so they sell. A bad business plan can lead to failure and a sale.
Then you have the con artists involved with the sport. Their teams fail annually. The con artist then walks away with money from the team leaving everyone else high and dry.
League changes are usually a way for a team to better it's product. Going to a better league provides better teams to play. It also provides more stability because of fewer forfiets and other considerations. I've yet to see a team change to a lesser league. I.E. a UIF or GLIFL team moving to the EIFL or NIFL. Then you have the profits that can be gained beause of being in a better league.

well, it is the credibility question that made me want to post this question; i've only been trying to follow Arena Football since last season. so i thought i'd fish for some REAL historians.

This is being discussed on the UIF Fans message board too, GLIFL guys said no GLIFL in Illinois at all.

I can confirm that I said that. No GLIFL in Illinois at all.

And the Reapers are staying?
Cuz the same guys who said the dirt about Illinois say that Motor City is gone.

BTW, do you mean no Illinois for 2007 or no Illinois ever?

The Motor City Reapers, due to the owner's personal issues, will not field a team in 2007. We all agreed that it was obviously the best decision, as his mind couldn't be 100% focused on the Reapers to make them a success. It wouldn't be fair for the Reapers or the rest of the league if we tried to "go ahead anyways."

This decision was amicable. There is a possibility that they be revived for a future season, but they will not play in 2007. The GLIFL thus has 12 teams. Our website will be updated (probably tomorrow) with the removal of the Reapers link.

Gotta respect that, better in the offseason than during the season. Too many times we see people try to move forward with out the resources or the proper mental capacity and the teams sink after the first few games.

When do we find out about Lexington?
