What is it about the af2 and the Utah owners and fire-related nicknames? Can we try another motif?

(And no, this isn't me just generally being hateful towards the af2, I would rip any league for doing this-show originality!!)

As a matter of fact they were looking at Wildfire and Firestorm, but because the af2 already had the Louisville Fire and Florida Firecats, the team chose Burn.

True that, Boise Burn does sound pretty lame. If they go with Idaho Burn, that doesn't sound all that bad.

As a soccer fan who has to occasionally put up with what MLS dishes me, I can say with certainty that I don't miss the old STD Cup.

That was Dallas Burn v Kansas City Wiz.

See, even MLS has the common sense to let those names go by the wayside. OK, never mind that MLS was kind of forced to give up Wiz...

I thought the name Spokane Shock was stupid but then they sold 10,000 seats per game so maybe burn is fine.

I highly doubt the lame moniker will keep fans from attending the games. If they're a fan of football, more specifically arena/indoor football, they'll go to the games. If the attendance suffers, it'll be for another reason.

Given (1) an entreprenurial town, (2) many people being burned by the old IPFL team, (3) Boise State's success inclusive of getting all the attention they can handle, and (4) BSU's habit of trying to be the benevolent despot in Boise...

...you can guess that I think the initial response will be guarded.

BTW, my guess is that it would have been worse with another league. (My way of prompting a response from rams80, which in turn gets the Empire music churning in my head... except I'm probably right.)

When you win 14 out of 16 regular season games and all playoff games, championship included, name is not so important.

However, imho, even their helmet is horrible.

KTIK radio reports that the logo and unis are unveiled Thursday afternoon.

There's a tryout Saturday. Funny how that got prominent mention. I wonder how much it costs.
