I follow the NWFA simply because there's an NWFA team in my town and not a WPFL team.
There's no way I'm paying more than $15 for a ticket to see a WPFL game in an oversized venue intended for an NFL or major Div. I-A crowd just because the WPFL organizers want the big stadium status symbol and expect the fans to pickup the tab.
I go to NWFA because they play at high school stadiums during the spring/summer months.
Women's semi pro football (NWFA/WIFL/WPFL) has the same execution quality as a high school city league game. City league schools suck in week 10 as much as they do in week 1. No improvement. There's no improvement in women's football from week to week either during the season.
As far as the WPFL is concerned, don't let the WPFL organizers fool you into thinking their players get "paid". The WPFL expects their players to do carwashes, etc to raise funds for travel, but the money comes back to each player ($50 per game?) so the league can brag they are professional on their website.
I find myself leaving at halftime when I watch the local team often because the final score ends up being a 80+ something to nothing mismatch. That is not entertainment.
The Detroit Demolition were on the right path when their team management suggested having standards for a NWFA and NWFAII based on roster size, talent, and funding. Because these ideas were suggested against the status quo, the Demolition were expelled from the NWFA's commissioner CM and joined the IWFL.
Yes, I rambled outside of the question being asked but that's life. LOL!!!!
To sum up, yes I follow the NWFA more than the WPFL, but I only go if the two teams are evenly matched.

the word "fledgling" comes to mind in a big way when discussing these leagues. to be fair, former NFL figures are in fact starting to get involved in the NWFA. that league seems to have gathered proverbial "steam." the website right now boasts wild expansion as we speak. i followed the season last year as tightly as i could via the website, the newsletter, and google news alerts [and google VIDEO coverage!], and i found it very interesting and very exciting. those women come to HIT, notwithstanding that, no, they do not, as of yet, get paid... you mention a lack of improvement as the season progresses. i noticed some flux in some of the teams last year. now the WPFL is another story. i think maybe that's due to complete lack of substitutions (or roster "depth") - and the WIFL i don't even follow. i may at another juncture, but as for now, the NWFA is by far the most exciting league, to me. Lisa Horton i think is fantastic!
