I wonder will the ABA ever compete with the CBL, this league is plain silly playing in mexico and then having a so-called franchise in jersey.
The solid franchises (kansas, long beach) should try and join the CBA of USBL.
Hey Ronniefan I think we are heading for Rockford/Dakota championship.
And whats happen to all the regulars on this board, like all the Wizard fans and Lightningfan, and Uncle Buck ?

Well, Gary has clinched a CBA playoff spot. Rockford on the other hand...
Can you say "Bubble Boys"? If Rockford does not win more than 1.5 quarter points against Gary (at Gary) and Sioux Falls wins all 7.0 quarter points against Great Lakes Saturday, then Rockford ain't goin' anywhere. The Rockford Lightning are still doing a balancing act on the bubble.
Hey not so fast! I've done the math. Solid ABA franchises is an oxymoron...but I'm not sure about Juarez because I don't understand the Mexican economy.

HA HA HA HA ! ABA Compete with the NBA? Gimme a break ! The only league that competes with the NBA . Is the NBA.
As for the Rockford and Sioux Falls Bubble ?
That game means nothing until after todays game. Does anyone know what radio station website might carry the game ?
Yeah the CBA website has the webcast. BUT, somehow it is not the same.

I agree. To compare ANY minor league to ANY major league is to truely compare apples to oranges.
Tonight's Rockford/Gary game can be heard over the internet on sportsjuice.com. You can click on the SportsJuice button on the Gary Steelheads homepage to go directly to the broadcast.
Sioux Falls and Rockford are doing exactly what I expected them to do nine games ago. They are trying to "back into" the playoffs. Instead of aggressively kicking butt, both of those teams now have to rely on some other team to get them into the post season--with only ONE spot available. I figured Gary was going to do the same thing and try backing-in (or back themselves all the way out of the post season), but I was pleasantly surprised (since I AM a Gary fan). I figured Gary to go 5-4 max over the last nine games, but they've gone 6-2 as of today to control their own destiny. Cool, I like that.

It's too bad the ABA doesn't compete with the NBA. That would be cool.

Well Ronnie Fan,.................Hope to see you in Bismarck on either Tuesday, Wednesday or next sunday !
But as for hearing you ? I don't know about that one. Think you can get louder than the most obnoxious fans in the CBA ? ( And I do Mean obnoxious ! )
There are State H.S. Basketball tournements going on this next week in ND, so I hope that doesn't affect the crowds and fan base for the Wizards games. Hope to see ya there tho !

If they get a tv contrast with a network and a draft they might.

Most people will regard this as another dumb post. I regard it as "young". We've all suffered from that. Some of us would dearly like to suffer a lot more of that.
Still, I can take parts of that post and use it to my own nefarious ends.
TV contracts do not come without fans wanting to watch. Virtually nobody watches ABA games (certainly by TV standards). TV ain't going to touch the ABA anytime soon.
BTW, if you haven't noticed, the NBA barely has a network TV contract anymore. There's barely a game of the week on ABC during the winter, and it's not rating well from what I hear, outside the Lakers. That has become true for every league... except the NFL. That won't change anytime soon, and it leaves no room for the ABA to even be considered.
Why would a draft make for competition against the NBA? If anything, to find a niche or an edge (if a gun were held to my head to work ABA issues), I'd drop the draft, create academies in each league city, develop HOMEGROWN talent, and work a "guerilla marketing" angle based on that. I'm not sure that helps Minot any, but I'd hope that I can create a real "connection" between the players and their communities that way. With the academies, I hope to develop players that either make me money at the gate, or sell their contracts to Europe (I know CBA teams occasionally benefit from such sales). Please note that I did say "if a gun were held to my head," as I doubt there are any guarantees with my plan.

Couldn't it be both?
Yes, it's most definitely both.

Well, I can see what you are saying, as sports ratings have all fallen. The one thing I remember a few years back the CBA had a deal with BET where they had games broadcast..I thought that was cool. I would think a network like that would not lose much on a small league. Of course we will not see any of these leagues on ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX unless it it local only telecast.
Even the NBDL couldn't survive on ESPN during the weekday afternoons.
Speaking of bastketball on ESPN, I do also remember CBA on ESPN2 of geez that must have been 10 years ago too already (although those too were during the day and I think pretaped and cut to 2 hours)

I like how the CBA has approached the Broadcasting of its games.
They started with Web Cast. And the signed on with Fiberpipe.com. They are working their way up. Eventually they may sign some sort of contract with FSN or some local broadcasting company in certain areas that have teams.
I remember back in the years of the old ' IFL " Indoor Football League.
MSN ( Midwest Sports Network ) Now FSN midwest. Replayed certain games.
Granted,........... they re aired the games around midnite. But they got some exposure. And eventually the Arena league Baught them. ( Maybe that was the wrong thing to do. )
But these Minor leagues jummping head 1st into TV deals and such,........is just plain stupid.
I would like to see if the ABA, with this HUGE expansion year, Be alive in 2 years. With all the teams still playing and in the Black. Then maybe a small TV deal.
