The CBA just announced that the Utah Eagles, playing out of Salt Lake City Community College, is joining the league for the 2006-07 season. The team already has a venue, a coach, and a solid owner - and a website, http://www.utaheagles.com.

..nobody on the boards was talking about this, so it was a pleasant surprise.
These teams do need travel partners, though.

Salt Lake is only 5 and 1/2 hours away from Butte so travel out west will be better than last year. It's the teams in the East-Anderson, Atlanta, Albany and Minot that are all on islands.

A pleasant surprise? It's ABA business as usual transferred to the CBA. Place a team in a NBA town with little time to market and play at a community college.
Who's going to support the Eagles when you can support the Jazz? There are only so many dollars out there.
