i think we should have things set up like minor league baseball where there is a major team and its farm teams any up for this idea

Not sure how it would work because then leagues would fight over who should be the AAA leagues and who are the A leagues. And besides, which league is the major league?

The only reason baseball pulls that off... anti-trust exemption.

Tony-O's comment is valid... look how hockey leagues try to swing a structure.

i believe that it could work if it did work out it would look close to this and I am basing this on pay rate and the amount of players who are able to move up.

Major League: AF

AAA: AF2, AIFL(based on pay)

AA: UIF(maybe the AIFL could be here they are a toss up in my opionion)

A: GLIFL(but I could see this league move up)

Rookie League: NIFL, EIFL

Easy, he's relatively new here. No need to beat him up. I'd also disagree with those assessments.

If it were based on pay, much of the AIFL and NIFL would be classified as amateur because of so many teams not being able to make payroll. I wouldn't bother to classify the EIFL at all since I doubt they are going to ever play a game.

Tell the Sioux Falls Storm (UIF) players that they are being promoted to AIFL and see what they say.

For that matter, tell a one way player that they have to play both ways and see how they feel.

Why count the EIEIO and not count a league that looks like it actually will start up, the WIFL. You also left out the APFL.

You have to laugh haw the NIFL to the EIFL were compared though as similar. Lets see, EIFL costs what? NIFL cost what?

The only way the AFL would operate with these leagues is if they bought them.If the AFL did suddenly decide to buy all of the indoor leagues and make a minor league system of it(extremely not likely) it would probably look like this:
AAA: af2

I think if they bought them ALL and wound up with 100 teams or so there'd be enough room for something like this:

AAA: af2
AA: af3

After what happened with the Indoor Football League, I think its safe to say that the various leagues would never allow the AFL to buy them out.

This probably makes the most sense and with the amount of teams in the country now they could probably add AF4 and AF5 pretty easily.

As for some other folks who disagree with me and I give the point of view from a player that the AF2 is what you shoot for if you can not make an AF team the next level would be UIF or the AIFL and maybe the new WIFL down in the south. I have a few friends who played in the GLIFL and will be trying to make a AF2 squad this season. That league did a good job of preparing them for the next level of indoor football. I did not play in the GLIFL but it may be an option for me this year to avoid traveling far from home to play again.

Are you all crazy? Those leagues af3 or af4 would be so expensive because the dad (NFL) gets their cut. The minor or more minor leagues can keep their dues down and make playing slightly profitable.

Here is the 2007 lineup for af14:
American Conference
Flinthills Division
Goessel Grains
Hope Hawks
Lost Springs Lassos
White City Warriors
Sand Hills Division
Little River Lighting
Burrton Bushels
Pretty Prairie Predators
Langdon Lariots
National Conference
Gyp Hills Division
Attica Attack
Stafford Strikers
Norwich Norseman
Kiowa Barsmashers (Carrie Nations first attack was there)
High Plains Division
Cunningham Crusaders
Chase Chargers
Claflin Crushers
Coldwater Chaps

All of the teams are in Kansas towns of 500 or fewer where the local high school plays eight-man football. When they talk about playing in their barn, they mean it literally. Tickets are $2, $1 for kids. Players divide the take after the game. Game of the week to be televised on rural cable system channel 31, which normally runs the hog and cattle futures.

It could be ran like minor league baseball the lower the level of play the less the cost of operating a team.

Send this to the NIFL, it could work well for them too . . .

Does anyone really consider Arena Football "major league"? I mean in the sence of MLB and having a farm system. Besides that, I think a majority of people following "indoor football" like the style of play better. Having one farm system following arena style of play would suck for them, unless rules were changed blending the two games together.

I think you could best describe the AFL as being a "secondary" major league; that is, its not at the same level as MLB, NBA, NFL, and probably NHL and NASCAR

Actually, if you wanted (IMO) a talent scale and classifications, I think it'd look more like this

Major-NFL

AAAA-CFL

High AAA-AFL

AAA-NCAA Division I

AA-Empire, UIF, AIFL, WIFL

Low AA-GLIFL, NIFL

A-APFL, EIFL

^^^ Yikes . . . College football behind CFL and AFL . . . lol

Keep those rankings coming though, it is quite interesting to say the least . . .

Exit, how do you feel about the GLIFL and NIFL being on par with each other? :)

It's kind of a misnomer, but I'm going off of the baseball and hockey tradition of having the AAA league being the primary developmental one. The "higher" leagues would be for players who are more "in-betweeners" (out of college and pretty good, but not NFL good.) AFL's AAA 1/2 actually indicates that it is more developmental than the CFL. (NFL Europe BTW would also be AAA)

GLIFL can get bumped up to regular AA if their talent is on par with everyone else.

I'd call the AFL more of an "alternative" Major League. It's kind of like the music industry. There are some great bands that would never hit the top 40 charts, just like there are some players who excel in the arena style of football that would never make it in the NFL. That doesn't make those players "minor league", but the AFL will probably never be considered on par with NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL.
