Nick Lachey, Stacy Keibler...............this has the makings of a true disaster. Of course they can just show Stacy Keibler prance around and they'll make money.

Found this on Craigslist.org. Two things strike me as strange:
1. You can pay for your try-out through PayPal?
2. It says invitation tryouts/callbacks will be announced. Callbacks? Is this some strange reality show where instead of legit basketball players they will cast interesting "characters"?
I also wonder how long they will be able to keep playing at the LA Sports Arena. I figure that will last about as long as the Pittsburgh Xplosion did at Mellon Arena.

Or as long as the Inglewood Cobras did at the Forum.

They must have all fallen on hard times. Will the $100 tryout fees all disappear before the season starts in some sort of scam.
This all goes to prove, just because you're famous doesn't mean you're smart.
Maybe they should have asked The Game how much he lost with his ABA team.

When the Cobras folded, I bet 50 Cent was laughing his head off!

If that's the way this was approached, and if Joe Newman wished to cast himself in the manner Vince MacMahon does in his WWE productions, it might actually work as a TV show.
Of course, it wouldn't work on a nationwide basis, so real people wouldn't be as hurt in the process. :D

I'm really surprised Mr. Joe didn't try and have each celebrity buy their own team in the LA area.
We could have had 8 teams right next to each other.
Los Angeles, Hollywood, Long Beach, Santa Monica, Inglewood, Anaheim, Torrance & Redondo Beach(could play right on the beach if needed).

There are 7 minor league teams in the LA metro area now:
D-League- L.A. and Anaheim
CBA -L.A. Aftershock and Azusa
ABA - Bejing in Maywood, Carson and now Hollywood!!!!
Most of these teams will not last for more than half a season and maybe that is Mr. Newmans plan, if you can't have them (Aftershock and Legends) bury them with press releases for your new sitcom star owned team.

The Inglewood Cobras never played at the Forum. They played a grand total of one home game last season and it was played at Inglewood High School.

It goes back to a point someone made on another post earlier -- Newman relies on these teams going under. If he has successful teams year-to-year, he doesn't bring in money for new franchises. A new owner comes in when a previous sucker goes under.
