with Revolution’s August 26 Tryout
New York, NY (August 18, 2006) – Velocity Sports Performance of Parsippany will be on hand to assist with the New York-New Jersey Revolution’s open player tryout on Saturday, August 26, from 10 am – 2 pm at The Center Circle in Rahway, NJ. Velocity Sports Performance is a state-of-the art speed and training facility that has worked with players on both the collegiate and NFL levels. Velocity Sports Performance coaches will conduct the warm-up activities and timing of individual events for the Revolution. Potential players will be reviewed in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard pro shuttle, broad jump and L-agility drill.
“We are very excited to be working with Velocity Sports Performance. The organization has an incredible reputation for developing athletes and their programs are important to achieving the speed and agility necessary to make a pro team,” said Kevin Hanratty, the director of player personnel for the Revolution. The team will play six home games at The William G. Mennen Arena, a facility of the Morris County Park Commission, starting in April 2007.
Registration for the August 26 tryout begins promptly at 10 am and includes a $50 processing fee payable in cash only on the day of the tryout-combine. Participants must be at least 18 years old, will be required to sign a waiver form and should wear shoes appropriate for indoor field turf. Participants will also take part in one-on-one drills against players with professional arena and indoor experience. One-on-one drills are included in the tryout to simulate actual game situations and the results will weigh heavily on a potential player's final rating.
