Calls were very poor in the last three games I've attended.

Totally agree with you. I've scored the pitch's and have to erase them, not good for pitching. A balk is very obvious, yet it was called the other night,it wasn't a good call.

umpiring in the league is very bad and i hope for the playoffs they get better...calling balls when they are strikes kills our pitchers..calling a guy out when he is clearly safe kills our momentum..lets clean it up please..

Tell me about it. You all should have since the calls they were making in Game 3 in Edinburg. It was the worse I have ever since. It really hurts to lose because of the umpires.

Maybe if Laredo had gone out and executed instead of crying and complaining about all of the calls that were made in game 3 of the playoff series they would be playing for a championship. Game 2, 2 big errors caused for game 3 to be necessary and very emotional for the cry babys in the dugout, on the field and in the stands from Laredo. "I thought there was no crying in baseball." Seemed that Maldanado and Carrea after being ejected in the top of the 9th were doing plenty of crying. :( This is the reason why they tried to blame the umpiring from the 1st inning till the end of the game for there errors and there mistakes. Wow what a costly error in game 2. If only they had spun that double play ball. Hummmmm??????

I guess you work for Edinburg or ULB to be in the locker room?
Great unbiased take. Wish the umps were as unbiased as you!!!! lol
Im a baseball fan to the nth degree. I follow high school and college baseball and started going to the Rio Grande White Wings games.
The umpires in this league are the worst umpires in pro AMERICAN BASEBALL.
Umpire Woody Bell was twice accused of throwing games in the past. Ask the players and coaches, they will tell you.
Other umpires in this league are too green and cocky as if they are major league umpires!!! Its amazing.
The league has 2 umpires per game instead of 3 per game and thats is horrible and bush league, heck my high school son's team sometimes has three umpires on playoff games.
The White Wings always get the short end as well -- espically when Javier Cantu shows up and Woody Bell and his rookie umps. Price the guy with the white hair, is the only somewhat fair umpire but I wouldnt put $500 in front of him either.
Heck, my buddies and I have seen them always at bars with the Coyotes players (Cherry, etc.) and other teams players, smoking, drinking and hanging out with them one time after a Rio Grand and Edinburg game in Edinburg I went up there for and at the All Star Game.
The league needs to sell baseball first and leave the game between the lines untouched by greed, scandals and umpires that can be bought for a case of beer or whatever it is.
I know some of the Rio Grande players are already talking crap about the league to other players warning them not to come to this corrupt league.
So here is another Texas Lousiana League in the making. I can smell it as much as the umpires smell the scent of the dollar.
I feel for the Broncos but it has happened to all the teams in this league some way or another by these umpires.
I just hope the league is not behind any of this.
Say it aint so' but it looks and feels like it at times.

Wow--there may be "no crying in baseball" but there are some really GOOD conspiracy theories and DRAMA! Seriously worth the reading. But since everyone is pointing fingers and whining about one thing or another that happened in Game 3 of the Edinburg/Laredo playoff series...here's a question for you: Why were there only 2 umpires to start with? For playoffs, there should have at least been 3 umpires on the field!! Maybe the league is more concerned about $$$ than good calls. But seriously when the wind is blowing 15 mph (at least) and emotions are being worn on the sleeves of the players...there will be bad calls--they wouldn't have been so bad if they had been against Edinburg or another team. Sorry Broncos, I am a fan, but dwelling on it isn't going to make you a better team and b@tching about it isn't going to change any of the bad plays made in Game 2 or bad calls made in Game 3. GO BRONCOS--SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

This is a brand new league, it will take a few seasons to get things worked out. I must say that I was witness to some pretty bad calls, but I also saw a lot of good ones too. I did see some improvement over the season. Give them sometime, this isnt an affiliated AAA league.

I understand what you are saying but there is no room for corruption in baseball.
From Major Leagues to T-Ball. You cannot bet, pay or affect the game when its between the lines.
You just cant.

Pete Rose knows the answer to this one.

Yeah Pete Rose may know the answer (and he does belong in Copperstown), but at least he admitted his wrongdoings and may be bitter towards his ban from Copperstown, but I don't think he whines as much as some of these bloggers. I don't think this was created as a b$*%& board. I have grown up around baseball and always seen bad calls, but it's all in the eye of the beholder. Flat out saying that the umpires are corrupt without proof or knowledge on a blog board is pretty reckless for one's profession, but also a little cowardly. If your accusations, or facts as you write them, are true, take it to the league, file a complaint with the IRS, maybe they'll put together a whole grand jury and investigate it!! Corruption is way worse in corporate america than in a new independent league. You make it sound like the ULB is the next Enron or WorldComm. It's the first year and there is a lot of "green" everything. It's all new: league, teams, owners, managers, players...all developing and like any new business it is working out the kinks and problems. Trashing it and the umpires, owners, league...all reflects negatively on the community and you as a "fan" if that's what you want to call yourself. Negative reaction is never taken as more than a disgruntled fan. Constructive criticism, written ideas to the league...proactive approaches are way better than trashing someone's reputation and a new league for other fans and players. Basically, quit hatin'!
