If anyone recalls the days of the Quad City Thunder, you'll probably remember Dan Panaggio. According to www.dailynews.com, Panaggio will be the head coach of the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Lakers-owned D-League team. I've read that he had a lot of success in the CBA. I don't remember him because I started following the CBA in 2001. Now that my team has joined the D-League, I'll be able to see Panaggio on the sidelines when the D-Fenders come to Bismarck this year!

Yes, Dan Pannaggio was a very good coach in the CBA. He took over the Quad City Thunder in 1991 after his dad (Mauro Pannaggio) stepped down. and posted a 42-14 record his first year as coach. he won two CBA Titles (1994 & 1998) during his career in Quad City. He beat Omaha in 1994, 4 games 2, and beat Sioux Falls 4 games to 3 in a classic 7 game series in which sioux falls had taken the tied the series in game 6.

I was just wondering whatever happened to him since he left the Quad Cities after the '98-99 season.

I beleive he is second all time in the CBA as far as WINS. who is the all time leader? none other than his own dad with 424 wins. I beleive Dan has 300+ wins in the CBA. (1991-1999)

He was an assistant coach at Marquette and had some coaching stints with Portland in the NBA after Quad City, I believe. Overall, he was 313-191 in the CBA. LA was smart to hire him, especially with that kind of record.
