I Am Starting To Get Concerned A Little. The Season Will Be Starting In Just Over Two Months And There Are Only Two Players Signed. I Missed The 2005-2006 Because I Was Overseas, But From All I Read It Seems The Fireantz Had A Good Deal Of Talent On That Team. I Am Sure There Are Some Guys Trying To Move Up This Year To Different Leagues. I Also Think We Lucked Out On The Coach We Were Able To Sign.

Well i am right there with you in the middle of sandland. I am shocked that the Fireantz have not signed more players yet. The new coach maybe waiting until after camp to really start signing players

I'm new to hockey, actually became a fan in Feb. of this year, and absolutely love it! If camp does not start until the 17th and opening night is the 27th, that does not give them much time to sign players and practice does it?
I think I will have to take a half a day off on the 27th, I'll be to excited to work!

The Antz Are Having A Free Agent Camp Coming Up Soon, So I Guess They Will Pick Up Some Guys From There. I Was Hoping They Would Be Able To Bring Back Kory Baker, Tyler Perry, Mark Phenow And George Nistas. I Know There Is A "veteran Player" Limit, So I Do Not Know Where They Fit In On That Rule.
Guardfan......hope You Are Not Over Here Much Longer. I Will Be Home By The Time The Season Opens For The Antz

Don't worry. I think we are probably in better shape than most of you think. They are not going to release the names of all the players signed at one time. They will spread it out over time in order to keep the name in the news. They have just announced the 3rd player--BJ Stephens. However, I think several other players from last year have already signed. Besides, if they announce too many players, and say they only have "x" openings on the team, then not as many people will show up for camp.
SPHLfan, as for the players you mentioned, Kory is in Sweden (already there, will play there this season), and Phenow will be playing in Bloomington with Derek. I haven't heard anything about Nistas, but I have heard rumors that we will probably be getting Perry back, provided he is cleared medically (wrist problems from the last 2 seasons). So far, BJ is the only vet we have signed and announced. Of last year's players, only Linna, BJ, Kory, and Fournier would have been vets this year, and since we don't have to worry about Fournier or Kory, we are in good shape. If Linna returns (I hope he does), we still have room for 1 more "outsider."
#1GF, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you during football season, but hopefully when you get back. To both you and SPHLfan, stay safe and thank you for doing what you do for us.
BTW, for anyone who is interested, the Booster Club for the Antz is having a poker run on Sat Aug 26, and a golf tournament on Sept 30 to help raise money for the upcoming season. PM me if you want more information on these events or any questions you have regarding the Booster Club. Thanks!!

Since I Missed All Of Last Season, I Did Not Get A Chance To See Stephens Or Linna Play. From Their Stats They Seem To Have Been Productive Last Season. Losing Mark Phenow Will Hurt. He Is Such A Solid Player. I Hate To See Kory Baker Gone. In The 2004-2005 Season He Seemed To Come Through When We Most Needed It. It Will Be Interesting To See What Type Of Players Coach Marks Brings In. Coach Booth Wanted Big Tough Guys In His First Season But Had To Quickly Adapt To They Type Of Play In The Sphl. Opening Up The Ice With No Two Line Pass Rule Changed His Thinking. He Did A Great Job Of Recognizing That And Bringing In A Different Kind Of Player.
