Broncos Stun Colts Again 5-4
Laredo Records Second Straight Walkoff Win
LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Broncos rallied for a last at bat win for the
second straight game as they beat the San Angelo Colts 5-4 with two runs
in the bottom of the ninth to sweep the three game series at Veterans
Field on Sunday night. Shortstop Arnoldo Ponce delivered a two run single
to give the Broncos their third straight victory. Laredo goes on the road
for six games, and then returns home on Tuesday, August 15th against

Laredo got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the fourth with a run
off Colts starter LHP David Glick. Second baseman Edwin Maldonado doubled
to leadoff the inning, then scored on a single thru the left side by
designated hitter Palmer Karr.
San Angelo tied the game in the top of the fifth against Broncos starter
RHP Elliott Shaw. Colts designated hitter Tony Sanguinetti doubled to
start the inning, and then scored on a single by third baseman Jason
Crosland.
The Colts broke the ballgame open in the top of the seventh. San Angelo
loaded the bases with nobody out and first baseman Kevin Bass promptly
cleared them with a double to the gap in left centerfielder to make it 4-
1 Colts.
Laredo got back in the game in the bottom of the seventh. With one out
first baseman Cameron McGuire singled into left field off Glick to drive
home two runs and bring the Broncos within 4-3.
In the bottom of the ninth the Colts turned to All-Star closer LHP
Brantley Jordan. Third baseman Ben Tinius singled to leadoff the frame.
Pinch hitter Mike Serrata laid down a bunt and reached on an error by
Jordan. Right fielder Anthony Bennet laid down another sacrifice bunt,
but beat it out to load the bases. Left fielder Brad Hough struckout
swinging, then Ponce singled to right center field to score two runs and
win the ballgame. Final Score Laredo 5, San Angelo 4.
Shaw threw 7.1 innings, allowing six hits, four runs, three earned and
struckout 10 and got a no decision. LHP Jonathan Pusateri worked one
third of an inning of relief. RHP Matt Zachary worked 1.1 scoreless
innings of relief for the win to improve to 4-2.
Glick went 6.1 innings allowing seven hits, three runs, two earned runs,
striking out four and got a no decision. RHP reliever Stephen Artz worked
1.2 scoreless innings of relief. Jordan worked one third of an inning,
allowing two runs, and got the loss to fall to 6-3
