On the GLIFL site it has a news story about the Miami Valley Silverbacks--formerly of the AIFL--joining the GLIFL.
Tucked into that story is a throwaway line saying that the Silverbacks will be part of a 4 team Ohio division along with Wayne County, Marion, and Stuebenville.
I assume (though we all know where that leads) that this refers to the Stuebenville Stampede currently of the AIFL, also. However, I can't get any hard info on this.
Is Steubenville changing leagues? Enquiring minds want to know...

The Stampede and Silverbacks have the same ownership.
When Steubenville's arena lease is finalized for 2007 and beyond, I'm sure we'll get an announcement.

We're currently without a league until the lease is done. Similar to Richmond, but without the animosity.

ain't it fun and interesting when teams start jumping leagues like this? how else would we ever get to see THE STUEBENVILLE STAMPEDE take on like the PORT HURON PIRATES of the GLIFL??? this will be GREAT!
are the Stampede bringing that cool red/white/blue football with 'em?

No, the GLIFL plays with a more traditionally-colored football, though it is a lighter shade of brown because it makes it easier to see in some of the darker arenas.
The Stampede are probably looking forward to staying in Ohio for 9 of their 12 games, thus giving their fans a great opportunity to watch three quarters of their games (if they so choose to drive to the road contests). With a full offseason to prepare and good football and business people running the show down there, I'm excited to see what will happen.

Six games at home and visit the other three teams once apiece.

Thanks Paul, I should have clarified. Teams won't play other teams more than twice in 2007. Six home games (which are all in Ohio) and the three divisional roadies.
The schedule has not been put together totally (though we have worked on it)...due to geography, expect Steubenville's three out-of-state road games to be in the East division (maybe one Michigan trip).
