...and Joe NEVER bashes them.

From the website:

Question from Ronnie W., Los Angeles and others: (combined): "Why do you think the ABA gets 'bashed' so much by the other basketball leagues? I dare you to answer this question on Ask the CEO.

Answer: Ronnie. I'm not sure why it was necessary to dare me to answer the question. And to all of you who wrote similar questions, it is a valid question. Unfortunately, I do not have a good answer (unusual in itself). Why the other leagues focus their bitterness and anger on the ABA instead of going about their own business I don't know. You'll notice that we do not "bash" the other leagues and do not participate in the type of rhetoric and bitterness that they display.

Do we need examples of how you bash the other leagues Joe?

There is plenty of room for good quality professional basketball at affordable prices. The other leagues should concentrate on developing their product. I cannot imagine the people at Wal-Mart bashing Target or K-Mart or the people at McDonald's bashing Burger King or Wendy's. And vice versa. For some reason, the other leagues get great joy in taking shots at the ABA.

I doubt they are purposly bashing you Joe. I can not recall one media account of how the CBA or NBA DL have bashed you or your teams. The teams that left to join these leagues volutarily went over. Its about security.

Perhaps there's a reason that after 100 years combined, the other leagues have 20-25 teams, and in the last four years the ABA has 60 and will have nearly 80 in 2007.

The reason they don't have so many teams Joe is because they do something called market research and do not give teams to every Joe (no pun intended) who wants one. Their teams may not survive sometimes but a greater percentage of your teams do not survive. AND THEY DO NOT RIG THEIR CHAMPIONSHIPS!

It's interesting that the other leagues bash the ABA, and spend the bulk of their time recruiting ABA teams to their leagues.

Oh yeah, the CBA and NBA DL just go around picking teams from you because of your wonderful owners, etc. I would bet the teams that joined the CBA and NBA DL actually sought those leagues out first.

I think it would be best if the other leagues did a little introspection and made some adjustments to their models. There is a reason for a history of failed teams, no growth -

Oh and your model has worked??? What percentage of your teams did not even finish the season the last two seasons? If your model is so great, then why is it not working either?

and perhaps it starts with a little more ethics and morality as a basis for their business. (Oops, I bashed them, sorry).

The pot calling the kettle black....this is way too funny. Joe, you need a lesson on ethics yourself.

My trips down memory lane include some Joe classics. Here was a solid 8+ on the scale for Ask the CEO (found it in an old thread, so I bumped it):

Pullng some of the more recent "Ask" postings that rip the NBDL, CBA, etc sort of make this classic ring hollow now, no???

The ABA CEO says; Perhaps there's a reason that after 100 years combined, the other leagues have 20-25 teams, and in the last four years the ABA has 60 and will have nearly 80 in 2007.

Cough Cough ...

Hey ABA CEO ---> How many teams in 2007

You are about 45 teams short ...

Team total is 35 ... and you keep losing teams by the day.

He never said he would have 80 ACTIVE teams...
