There is word that Fort Wayne, Indiana may be getting a new basketball team in 2007. Rumors are swirling that it will be in the ABA or the IBL. The CBA is no longer a viable option for Fort Wayne from what I was told earlier this evening. Has anyone heard anything about Fort Wayne joining any of the leagues in the next few years?

I live in Ft Wayne, and I haven't heard anything. Nothing in the papers here.

I live in Fort Wayne also and have not seen anything, I thought maybe someon in one of these leagues had heard something. The rumor seems to be the ABA.

God, I hope we don't get an ABA team. That will mean we won't have another pro basketball team here for 20 years after it folds in flames.

I think it'd be cool if Ft. Wayne got a D-League team that functions as a direct affiliate to the Detroit Pistons. They could be the Ft. Wayne Pistons!

Is IPFW really a big deal there though? I got a friend that grew up in Ft. Wayne and he talked about the Komets and Fury being the major sports scene there aside from high school basketball.
