What cities would be a good fit for the AAFL, newspaper reports where college have expressed some interest include, NC State, Florida, Tennessee and Purdue.

This year they want to focus on locations from the Big10, ACC and SEC conferences.

I think Notre Dame could be successful, especially with the leagues plan to have former players on the teams.

What other cities do you think would be a good fit.

..so I think Birmingham, Raleigh/Durham, and Memphis would be on the list (I realize Memphis is not in the SEC, but it is close).

Big Ten cities (with the possible exception of Chicago) aren't going to be interested in this.

I don't see Notre Dame letting a minor league outdoor football team play on their grounds. Football in South Bend is sacred ground and that's something people shouldn't mess with. That's like having a heavy metal concert in a church.

You made a good point, that place has way too tradition for them to allow that.

In 2008 I hope the league will move to the left. L.A. is an obvious choice.
Since I'm in Oregon, I hope they come to Portland. While it doesn't have a DI school, it does have a university (Portland State U.) and stadium (PGE Park). It's also central to fans of Oregon, Oregon State, and Washington.
I guess I'm left hoping the league lasts long enough...

I think Arkansas will be a good fit for the league. They have a really nice stadium in Little Rock just waiting for a pro team.

With the new Gopher stadium opening in 2009. I think the U of M would be a good fit.

I think Madison would be an excellent choice (Led the fan poll last time I checked)

Birmingham and Memphis would be great choices.

Raleigh? Not so much. They're crazy about college basketball here, but aside from grousing about how the area's three college teams can't raise themselves into national title contention, there's not enough interest to merit an AAFL team.

I think an AAFL team at TCU would work well...the metroplex is an amazing football area...and Ft. Worth is always about having their own team...plus, plenty of incentive to be good with the big stadium 30 minutes away.

You're wrong! I think Northwestern and/or Illinois would be perfect for the AAFL!
