Contrary to what a couple of people on here were told this evening, the Guard is apparently still here in Fayetteville, meaning the site for Indoor Bowl VI is still yet to be determined...

http://www.fayettevillenc.com/article?id=238381

And here's an interesting quote by Billings owner Dan Austin...

The only thing I’ve heard to the contrary since Day 1 is through various chat rooms and (the Fayetteville Observer’s) reports.

I guess that means he watches us (well, this isn't a chat room, but we know what he means). Not surprising, though, because I'm sure there's tons of owners and people like that who lurk here.

JUst read the article....A bylaw to decide where the title game should be played due to best financial viability??...Oh, Give me a frikkin break!...This stinks! And the league exec. commitee is still out to lunch? Add that Billings has had no news of this? After viewing the posts regarding the ongoing feud between the Outlaws organization and Shriver that has been going on behind the scenes all season long. Allow me to make this prediction. And PLEASE,god let me be wrong! But watch the league drag its heals just long enough - on purpose - so that if Billings has to travel to Fayetteville, they will not have time to respond, and the title game will be awarded by forfeit to the Guard.
Just you watch and wait. I'm sorry to vent folks, but I am so steamin' mad...Grrrrrr

Here are a couple other possibilities:

Did Fayetteville learn nothing from the Katy fiasco?? Now we have another team waiting for the league to tell them what to do. I wonder if CS is arranging their travel too....

So, I predict one of two scenarios. CS calls Fayetteville tomorrow and tells them they have to play in Billings. Only half of the team is able to arrive on flights before the game starts and have to fill all positions until the other half arrive during the 4th quarter - including their QB and all key players.

Or, CS says the game will be in Fayetteville and Billings has agreed to come. Only their coach doesn't come, the owners don't even know about it and no one recognizes any of the players' names - and their uniforms look like the local high schools...

about the by-law...

I can tell you that with out a doubt the EC has NOT been contacted about deciding this. CS is deciding this all on her own.

CS was at the guard compound last week arranging this whole deal. She tried to do the same in St.Louis in case we won and our owners said no way.. We will play billings there and be proud to play the Pac.Champions.. So this is very week on Mr.Kings part. But this was going on behind the scenes before the Guard and Rage game was even played.

To bad this Bowl game has turned into such a joke. It is not the Billings team fault they did what needed to be done but this will overshadow the game very inch of the way.

Again, this is why the game needs to be played at a NEUTRAL SITE determined before the season starts!!!! HUFF

for those of you hoping this will be the final NIFL game, I'm sorry to tell you that it won't be. There is no doubt that this mess will happen again next season!

Ragefan - similar proposals were made to RC before the RC - Billings game. RC was not interested in any of it. We needed to play Billings because it was the right thing to do and we wanted that game. I can say that phone calls are still being made to many people...

Ragefan, you are absolutely correct. CS very rarely consults with the EC when decsions are made. She has made several decsions this past season without involving the EC and yet claims that they made the decsion.

You are oversimplifying. Centralized Bowl game would not be profitable for any team, which is why they exist.

Besides, that is not the real issue here. The real fight is King and Shriver do not want Billings to play because they are mad at them for suing the league and winning, then refusing to sign the no-compete clause. The venue issue is just to complicate matters. If it were at a central site, this fight would still be going on.

A fitting end to the biggest joke in professional sports. Could have been avoided with the Guard ownership taking a leadership role, no crying, whining, lawyering and just head the bus to Billings and playing football. How anyone involved in this league will continue support due to one single person is beyond me.

If it were at a central site, billings wouldn't make as much $. I'm sure that would make this BS a little easier for the league to handle. JUST WISH THAT THE MARSHALS OWNERSHIP GROUP is watching this unfold...and they make a move somewhere...anywhere.

There is another scenario. The league awards the game to Fayetteville and Billings immediately files suit against the NIFL and the Guard. The court decides where, when and if the championship game is played.

You're right Paul. I was actually exaggerating in my predictions - but I have found there is no such thing in this league...

MarshalsFAN80 - Like I said on a different thread, The NFL can fill a stadium anywhere, anytime for a Bowl game. NIFL cannot. The teams split the gate (I am not sure of the percentage) so both teams profit from a filled stadium. So, if the Bowl game between Billings and Fayetteville was played in say, Cincinnati, only a portion of the hard core fan from both teams would travel and a few local people would buy walk-ins. The locals aren't invested because neither of the teams are from their area, so it would be hard to expect a good turnout of local people.

But, if you hold the game at one of the teams' arenas, you can expect a huge showing of fans. And the only fair way to determine which team gets that home field advantage is to earn it on the field - ranking. Along with the competition comes economics.
