Great league, but no outside exposure. Where are the players going that are on the DL?

I thought perhaps when Edinburgh got off to their tremendous start it might even get some national exposure. It appears as though there is some disorganization and maybe it is just because it is the first year. I really like the concept of this league and want to see it succeed, but I agree they could use some serious help in the public relations department. Their homepage is the worse in minor league baseball.

The league is not mentioned in the book that GM's,scouts and affiliated teams use to scout for talent. There is an agenda that scouts follow in order to be at games during baseball season's. It's not just luck. Some players get seen because someone is looking at someone else at a game, though. Too much talent to not have been on the agenda this year.

What can be done this season to get some players picked up by the affiliated teams? Any great ideas?

Here's a story from the league's Homepage:

Bronx Bombers Buy Ramirez

July 9, 2006 - Edinburg, TX; July 08, 2006

The Edinburg Coyotes of United League Baseball (ULB) announced today that the contract of Coyotes RHP Edwar Ramirez has been sold to the New York Yankees. Ramirez will report to Tampa, FL where he will join the Tampa Yankees of the Class-A Florida State League. Ramirez is the first player in the history of United League Baseball and the Edinburg Coyotes to be sold to a Major League organization.

The 25-year-old closer and native of San Juan in the Dominican Republic was a non-drafted free agent signing by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Feb 6, 2001. Ramirez spent three seasons in the Angels farm system playing for Provo, Rancho Cucamonga, and Cedar Rapids. Ramirez was released from the Angels on March 31, 2004.

Ramirez played his 2005 campaign with the Pensacola Pelicans of the now defunct Central League. In Pensacola, Ramirez posted a 2-2 record and 1.45 ERA in 43 relief appearances. In leading the Pelicans to the Central League playoffs, Ramirez gave up only 37 hits, struck-out 93 batters and walked only 15. His strikeout to walk ratio was an impressive 6.2:1. For every nine innings pitched he struck-out 13.5 batters and Central League hitters hit a measly .170 against him this season. After the 2005 season with the Pelicans, Ramirez’s contract was purchased by the Angels and he made one appearance for the AAA Salt Lake City Stingers.

“It is a shame that we have to lose such a great reliever like Edwar,” Coyote Field Manager Vince Moore said. “We are extremely excited that he’s going to affiliated ball. We wish him the very best with the Yankees.

With the Coyotes in 2006 Ramirez has been the most dominant reliever in the entire United League. Ramirez is 1-1 with a league high 25 relief appearances. Ramirez allowed only 14 this walking 10 and striking out 46. His strikeouts per nine inning average was an astounding 15.94 and was among the United League leaders in strikeouts despite pitching half the innings of some starters. Ramirez also was astounding in front of the home town fans.
