INDOOR BOWL VI
(E2) Fayetteville at (W1) Billings- Well, this is it. It all comes down to this. For us here in Fayetteville, we've definitely been here before... our teams have had championship game heartbreaks in the past several years. Our local paper talked about these last week. In 1999, the Cape Fear Crocs (baseball) lost in the deciding game of their league's championship series. The Fayetteville Force (hockey) fizzled in their league's championship series after being the best team in their league for most of the season. In 2003, the Fayetteville Patriots (basketball) blew a sizeable lead in the fourth quarter of the NBDL championship game and lost. We had similar heartbreak with the Wildcats, who were pretty darn good in all three years of their time here and seemed to be primed to win a championship, but they never got further than the conference championship game. All four of those teams are either defunct or elsewhere, leaving us with only two teams. We have a baseball team, the SwampDogs, who are doing pretty well right now and have a great shot at a championship, and of course, the Guard. I know I rambled a lot about our city's sports misery, but I just wanted to let everyone know what we've been through, so you all can understand how much this means to us. Maybe there's not a whole lot of people who care here in Fayetteville, but the ones who do are die-hard. I believe our guys are aware of this, and that's yet another reason they are so determined to win a championship. These guys have been on a mission all season long. They want it bad. Any bit of doubt anyone had about us should have officially been erased last night. We proved that we are, without a doubt, an elite team. We beat a quality team on the road, and kept calm under pressure. I'll admit, the latter was one thing I was concerned about. Before last night, we hadn't been involved in a close game in a while, so I wondered how we'd do in that situation if it came up. Well, it did come up, and we came out on top. That was very exciting, but now, it's time to focus on the final battle. Billings is an elite team. There's no question about that. I believe this is truly a battle of the two top teams in the NIFL. It's almost a certainty that it will be a thriller. When the smoke clears, though, the ones who will be hoisting the championship trophy will be decked out in camouflage. Mayor Chavonne, start planning that downtown parade... Fayetteville 58, Billings 55

Not gonna happen. Tell your mayor to save the confetti. The better team is Billings. If we can only prevent the CS officials from killing our team, we'll be fine. The Guard had a lot of freak plays go their way last night. It won't happen again. Bring your fans, we want to tailgate with you!

no disrespect to you outlawfan, but i would love to hear your explanation of the freak plays we benefited from. even when we make it to the indoor bowl, we can't get the respect we deserve lol. go figure lol. i guess the 6 td's that perry scored and the 120+ yards he rumbled for were freak plays. we understand that you guys have an awesome team, so don't get me wrong i have alot of respect for your orginazation but come down out of the clouds for awhile and open your eyes to the best team in the atlantic conference. if my eyes are focused right, i seem to see that both of our teams are 15-1 and pretty much even on offense and defense. your team is great at both and so r we. your only advantage is your home, AND THATS IT!!!!! whats it gonna take for you outlaw fans to give our team some respect. all the way through your game we had nothing but respect for you and your team but when our game came down to the wire all you talked about was "our kicker would make the game-winning fg". give it a rest man, we score td's not fg's. get off your high horse and stop thinking that your team is untouchable, cause they've lost once as well so that proves that their not untouchable. your attitude toward our great team is pathetic. WE WONT LAY DOWN!!!!

must be the air up there goguard, we cant get our respect. all he see's is that the pacific conf. is superior and theres no changing his mind. lets see if the guard at his teams house can lol. i've been nothing but respectful toward his team and their conf. but this bulls@@@ is getting deep. he thinks his team is soooooooooooo superior to ours, well lets see on fri. night. he fails to remember that his team almost lost there at home, but his team won on talent, they didn't benefit from any calls their way. nooooooooooooooooooooo not the outlaws lol.

all im gonna say is if we can find a way to escape from METRA PARK with the win, then we can finally silence our critics and they can ZIP IT for good. here's hoping that happens. again this man here has the utmost respect for billings and wishes them all the luck, unlike the other sides look at this game(NO RESPECT). win or lose, its been a hell of a ride this year.
fayetteville 54, billings 50
ps: chef is really a kool guy, so to all outlaw fans good luck on fri. our teams have both earned this chance to be called INDOOR BOWL CHAMPIONS.

OK, my freak plays came directly from a guy who couldn't pronounce Fayetteville. Freak plays = beneficial plays then. Close game all around. Don't deny that I wanted the Guard to win.

I won't predict the final score but will call my shot right now.....Billings loses on a very Scott Norwood-esque missed kick in the waning minutes!!

I predict that since Fayetteville is looking to leave the NIFL next year, CS gives the game to Billings.
And on a serious note, I'd pick Billings anyways. Heck, it's just about a cross country trip for Fayetteville and homefield advantage is always huge anyways.

The Outlaws are a very well balanced team with QB seems to coming right along and their defense doing very well.
Final score Billings 66 - Guard 38
Outlaws to get three INT's

I think it will be very similar to that, the Outlaws are rolling on all cylinders after their huge win last week, Dixon is going to come out and show how good of a Quarterback he really is, Reed and Culpepper will have championship performaces, and the candy man will add some too.
Hopefully Salter will be back, and i have a feeling we will be. He is too great of a competitor to miss the Championship game. And if he does play he will make a huge impact.
Final Score Bilings 77 - Guard 58

OO and/or other O fans,
Sounds as if there is still no respect for our team. I don't think you guys will ever do that unless we beat you on your field. If that is the case so be it. The line in the sand has been drawn, who or should I say whom will be the first to spit, the first to draw blood, the one that has to open a can of, well you know. The bottom line is I was not able to hear your game, as I was in St. Louis, my hotel had no power and no internet. As far as I know you guys might have just lucked up in your game, I have not read the stats as of yet, in order to make an educated decision on it's outcome. This I do know, I saw the Guard play a heck of a game against a great team in their house and come out on top. Gimme plays, or freak plays not by our team, now the Rage, yes they did have a few on special teams and the offense, how do you think they got back into the game, not playing smash mouth football like the Guard did.
Anyhow, no disrespect intended this week, but I am going with my heart and pick the Guard by 8 over the Outlaws. This will be who wants it more in the end or who can outlast the other. A battle of passing vice running the ball. BTW, I know why you guys decided on Friday night vice another time, we get one less day of rest for us and we have to travel so far. Just a theory I have giving you a bit more of a home field advantage, might be something else, don't know for sure.
One last thing, let's not hear that well we didn't have all of our players or the refs didn't make it right and such if Billings comes up short. We have plenty of legitimate arguements why we might not should win. The bottom line is both teams are true champs, even though it seems as if you guys don't respect our team. Good luck to all the players and congrats on a great season. To the fans that can make it be careful and have a safe trip. OH and as always,
GO GUARD !!!!!

The game is on Friday because the Great American Hill Climb is this weekend. That is one of the biggest motor cycle hill climbs in the nation and this was decided before the playoffs even started. I called the Outlaws at the beginning of July because I had some stuff to plan around the playoffs. They didn't want to have to compete against that for fans. So no conspircy theroies on the Friday game OK.

Drew, you know I love your team. I've been giving you love and hoping for a matchup. We got it and I am more than willing to assist your fans however I can to bring them here for the game. I believe the Aces will tell you how great our fans are. You have respect, you've earned it. Period.

That makes sense, because i bet if the game happened to be on Saturday or Sunday there wouldnt be 2500 at the game. Now hopefully we can get 5500 to 6000 there. Anyone Outlaw fans know the attendence record for a game??

Everything in this part of the "world" does revolve around the Sturgis Bike Rally starting officially start August 7, but things start more like July 28th. They are lucky in the Billings area to have anything available at all. So if you are coming to the “Game”, better get a room soon.
Billings will win even if they had the GAME in Fayetteville or in Lakeland or in St. Louis or in Katy.

To GO and OO, just pulling on your chain a bit, I know deep down you guys do respect us and just want a bit of trash talk. I am trying to do the math about getting up there. It's beautiful country that way, never been to MT but close all around. Just hope the team can find a way to get there, for me it's 36 hours hard driving and so far about 10 hour flight/trip time if I can find an affordable ticket. We shall see over the next day or so.
To C.Hardy, the trip was a different story. No problems flying, but when got on the ground, the city was still without power in alot of areas. My rental car company, and my hotel were without power and still had no power when we left. We changed hotels on Sat. and went to St. Charles. Flight home was delayed getting out due to several reasons but we did get here only about 3 hours later. The fans for the most part were fine, I had one smartA$$ talking trash at the wong time to me but other than that there were great. The Rage had brought in a bus of Marines from FT. Leonardwood, free trip, free tickets, everything, so the loudest bunch in the arena was three rows down from me. They were fine, we spoke and gave one of the guys our number as he was coming to Lejeune later on. I support them every day at work and told their Gunny they were a great bunch, no one got out of the way. All in all not a bad trip, as far as the heart, had to have a defib close by for me and O2 for the wife. She never left her seat for the most part, I could not stand it on the otherhand. Felt like a nervous father waiting for the first born child. We were so excited that it took about two hours to calm down. That's about it, take care, Drew.

Those blowout picks are WHACKED. If you don't think this is going to be one heck of a game, you're nuts.
OriginalOutlaw
07-24-2006, 11:58 AM
There will be no blowout. I think the game will come down to the last possession. I hope we have the ball then (but with a lead). The Guard look very similar to Rapid City, I think we will have difficulty on our kickoffs again. I believe Billings wins in a NipTuck game 56-52. Immediately followed by an OO heart attack. Your team has been most impressive recently, you have solidified your standing as a great team. Not just good - great. The Beast in the East, I tip my hat...

I was able to see both the Outlaws and Guard play. That will be one heck of a game up in Montana. As far as which team is better, they both played the rage tough, on the road. I predict which ever team has the ball last, it will come down to the last min of the game. Good luck to both teams. kicker/non-kicker will decide this one. hopefully biloutlaw will keep us (computer screen) fans updated. As billings has no webcast.

I'm working on it. But I hesitate to bring a $2K laptop into the arena. Should a Guard fan be willing to give up a cell number, I might be so inclined as to give live updates. What about texting?

you would think for a championship game your owner or NIFL would come up with some way of broadcasting the game... Seriously what gives?? No radio station with any love for your team?? Even the poor and down and out teams broadcasted the games.
