Player Team K's/AB avg.

Casey Baker Kalamazoo 13.92 .299
Joe Anthosen Rockford 12.47 .278
Clemente Bonilla Windy City 11.91 .313
Brian Colopy Chillicothe 11.89 .271
Mike Cockrell River City 10.67 .281

Joe Anthosen, the Rockford Riverhawks rookie all-star infielder, has always been a contact hitter. He played college ball at Campbell University and in 2004 he hit .356 and struck out 13 times in 202 at bats (once every 15.54 ab's).

Joe is off to a slow start (.227,5 for 22) since the all-star break, but if J.D. Arndt will continue to bat him second, in front of Rico Santana, he should see some good pitches and begin to look like a .300 hitter again.

My point is: I was surprised that only one of the top five contact hitters in the FL was hitting over .300, I probably should have stated that. In addition, I commented on Anthosen because I felt that, of the group, he had the best chance of improving and making a run for the batting title. He has improved, but not has much as I expected. Heres an updated listing

ranking/player/ball club/K's per ab/ avg.
1. Mike Cockrell-River City 16.0/.284
2. Casey Baker-Kalamazoo 14.7/.332
3. Joe Anthosen-Rockford 11.9/.291
4. Clemente Bonilla-Windy City 10.6/.307
5. Brian Colopy-Chillicothe 9.6/.264
