There is only one "best" thing to do for the league. That is for Mr. Brosal to resign and let the league move on.

Not only has his character been totally destroyed by the goings on with the "trashman", but his track record as the commish is poor. His never ending flip flopping perpetuates the problem. I remember his press conferences when Port Huron was moved to Roanoke and he said he would never allow a franchise in Port Huron again and a couple of weeks later he has a new Port Huron franchise and boasts how good a market it is.

The league's reputation is now crap with all of this. Franchises aren't worth a dime.

Next season we'll see PH leave as well as Flint and Elmira. Chicago will never make it in the long run. Too many other hockey teams in the area just like Motor City.

I am also sure the league vendors would all have some interesting takes on how much money is owed to them by league teams over the past 9 years.

He has had more teams fold than have succeeded in his tenure. He approves markets wihtout any true market analysis, something that no one currently employeed by the league is qualified to do.

Time for a change....

What if I offer you an alternate scenario, borne from observation?

Who do commissioners work for? Fans? The league?

Owners.

Brosal dances because the owners make him wear tap shoes. He courts poor ownership because that's about all that bunch can manage. The U lacks a bit of value to begin with... people with real money tend to avoid such situations.

The options, IMO, are (1) work with those scoundrels, or (2) no more hockey in your town. Brosal being fired would probably be a relief to him... and/or maybe the worst thing to happen to those owners, because he's probably got a lot of dirt on all of them. From there, since he's probably going to be dragged down anyway, it's all a matter of how light the sentence is before determining if he's going to keep clam, play songbird, or end up with concrete shoes at the bottom of Lake Huron.
