View Full Version : Teams - Take a stand against the NIFL

Now is the time for teams to take a stand against the NIFL; not after the season. Forget the playoffs. The league is turning them into a fiasco as we speak.
I'd be willing to bet that another playoff team is on the NIFL chopping block for refusing to sign the non-compete.
If this happens, I believe that it is in the best interest of all involved to walk away from the playoffs. Take control of the league and force the NIFL to play straight. Either refuse to continue in the playoffs or take the run to the championship on your own. Forget the NIFL's blessings and continue to play football.
There are alternatives for next season (PIFL) and if owners want to change the leadership of the NIFL they need to take that chance now while they have the bargaining power.

1) The NIFL is trying to hold the playoffs over teams heads in order to get them to return next season. Here's a better idea..Either insist it is signed before the season begins. Good luck with that.. Get rid of it out of the contracts...Or the best idea... Run a league that doesnt suck so teams will want to return.
2) Also seems to me that Cincinati plans to return and Osceola does not. So heres the Nifl trying to keep of the few solvent teams they have who plans to return happy.
Imagine the NFL working this way... Tampa Bay forfeits...then Dallas does not sign some paperwork...So they have them play each other in New York on Friday ...Then the winner moves on to play the Giants on Sunday....Sounds alot more ridiculous when put that way doesnt it? Its like we all are conditioned to expect the absurd from the NIFL..So nothing that comes down the pipe ever seems so outrageous or surprises us anymore.

#2 yet again shows me that JIMBO KNOWS NOTHING about the MARSHALS or how to spell Cincinnati! LIVE UP TO YOUR END OF THE BET JIMBO and WEAR THAT MARSHALS T-SHIRT! WE MOVE ON...it's your turn to HOLD UP TO YOUR END OF THE AGREEMENT, or are you going to "give up" like your team

Sorry for being so harsh but you were annoying me with your selective reading... You seem to be skipping by the fact I was attacking the league and not your team and only cracked on you team etc when i was provoked.

This reminds thread me of an old Jerry Springer episode where two guys were beating the snot out of each other over a girl, but by the end they realized that it wasn't worth ending a friendship over a girl (and turned on her).
The league is playing franchises off on each other. Soon you'll realize it ain't Cincinnati against Osceola, it's the NIFL's typical horse hockey.
The NIFL is probably requiring non-compete clauses to prevent the inevitable mass defections that are coming at the end of the season. They also need a lot of spin to stop making them look as stupid as they are.
I'm sure the NIFL is a bit up the creek this year. Its typical pyramid scheme requires new owners to replace the ones that defect to other leagues (or the teams that plain fold up shop).
Fiascos such as Montgomery and Rapid City, that made headlines beyond the usuall indoor football circles, have probably left new investors jittery. CS and her cronies probably need to show there will be a league next year.

I hope it's in the PIFL.
It's time to make that league real. I've heard the interest is solid. As much as I'd like to have seen the NIFL work........it's done.
I was actually making tentative arrangements to go to the championship game, figuring that there was a good chance that the game will be either at Billings or River City. While I still believe both Billings and River City have great organizations, and most of the teams left in the playoffs do, as well, this has to be the last straw for the NIFL. IT's not necessarily the problem figuring out who should advance between Cincinnati and Osceola that was the absolute final straw for me, but the capper was when they pulled out the "paperwork" excuse to gig Osceola.
Osceola probably did as many or more things right this year than most indoor teams in any league off the field. The nickname issue was brought on after being approved by the league. To have the quality product that they had this year after the debacle brought on by the Pewonski owned Kreatures last year was very admirable. While I know that they wanted more success on the field, you feel that's the direction they're headed.
As others have mentioned, with all the drama that went on this season, we were hopeful to see a quality post season. The opportunity was there, but instead we see the same old crap.

One more time, from this indoor football fan!
I hope it's in the PIFL!

You'll probably get the chance to, You'll have to play each other that many times to fill up a 14 game schedule. Hell at this rate you might play them 14 times.

The NIFL is currently trying to strong arm another team under the same excuse that got Ocseola thrown out.
Note to Ms. Shiver:
"The PIFL would like to thank you for your efforts in building this new league. Continue with your tremendous works. They are greatly appreciated." ;)
Oops. Did I say that out loud!

don't waste your money ! I can't wait to see Fayeteville and Lakeland this weekend. Hope neither of them are defectors and get the plug pulled.

Shiver SHOULD have had the non-compete clause before a season, or hell, when the franchise was first granted.
If a team leaves, good for them.
I agree completely, NIFL teams should threaten to walkout.

Quite the opposite has been the case. She has stated numerous times that teams sign on only for the year and are free to leave once the season is finished. The only stipulation was that they had to let the league know by a certain drop-dead date each year that coincided with a league meeting. That's been the policy up until this year, anyway. I'd imagine that adding a noncompete agreement would make it more difficult to sell franchises, something that was a tall task this last year.

I know, that's what makes this look especially desperate.

So what is this other team that's being pressured to sign a noncompete? I hope it's not one in the Pacific, because those playoffs have gone off rather normally...

You've got to be kidding. Are you seriously saying the NIFL is the best alternative? The only defector in all of this is the NIFL. They've abandoned their own teams for the sake of mediocrity and blatant lies.
Who's going to pull the plug on them?
What do you know about the PIFL to call it a waste of money?
I'm sure there will be other alternatives. The NIFL and AIFL are neither of them.
Unfortunately, it is a Pacific team that is getting the heat like Osceola.

Alright I'd probably guess Katy then...First year team, successful.....Just like Osceola.

And I may be digging a hole in the wrong direction, but I'd also guess that Katy's home game being taken away was the NIFL's idea of a first warning.......

Look further north. ;)

Is that directly north, or is there a lot of WAY OUT WEST involved?
I don't think it's Billings... and in itself, that's too bad. I'd love it if all these teams walked out for two weeks and then held the tournament outside the NIFL banner... or at least slap an Osceola logo somewhere on every helmet.
TC would make sense. Casper's only a few "short" hours away from the Metra.
I would bet Billings, but I don't know.

???????
Not sure what you're asking from my statement, as it clearly states that I don't know?
What I do know is that Billings and the league have had some issues, but that's something we all know. For all I know they're all smoothed over now, but I doubt it.
Billings is a class organization from top to bottom. The NIFL, not so much.
But you know that.

The PIFL has no financing and at least one of their si0called organizers does not have much of a track record. The whole idea of a national league with regional paly is the same original concet as the NIFL, with a little bit moreof a regional flavor. The problem at this level is that 75% of the ownership is not financed well enough to even make a decent play off trip half way across the country, many have little media support in terms of radio of local cable television deals and there is precious little fan base. The sport is experiencing some growing pains. Has anyone committed to the PIFL ? Is there even one team ? The AIFL season is over, has anyone there agreed to join the new group. We've all heard the rumors about the southern division. WIll Richmond play next year ? Will the teams like Osceola that have been shafted jump ship to the PIFL. The website is slick, paints a pretty picture but then so did Carolyn and Andrew.

Possibly your right dogman and there is the possibility that you are wrong on somethings. Who really knows. The AIFL and NIFL has created a lot of skepticism in indoor football. The way things are done leaves folks scratching their heads. All I really know is that the PIFL has stirred the indoor football hornets nest and other leagues are trying to hold things together and/or are trying to get markets that they would not normally go after.
People expect teams to be jumping on board the PIFL left and right. It has never been that way with any new indoor league. Usually teams make those changes in August and September.
You are right, the PIFL looks good an paper. Proof is going to be demanded. Time will tell.
My understanding is that one of the folks involved with the start up of the PIFL is no longer there. I'm really not sure who you are talking about in regard to lack of experience.
