Regarding Fever owner Randy Schillinger's after game controversial yelling match with Kona radio big wig Kelly Cheatwood......

Talked to three people that were a part of this incident Monday. Two people from the radio station and one that was on the field. I did not want to comment until I got some direct facts about this. The reason I am going to put what I heard on here is because I have personally and professionally had problems with Mr.Schillinger myself . I feel he is the bad apple in the Fever Ownership that has been responsible for nearly every major and minor problem they have experienced.

The gentleman I talked to that was on the field and saw what Mr. Schillinger did to Kelly Cheatwood (Kona Radio) said this, and I quote, "Schillinger jumped right in the face of Kelly and started yelling at him about Whitsett being in the booth with Kona at the game. Kelly said what the hell is your problem, he bought a ticket and he is our friend. Schillinger said it looked bad toward him that Whitsett was at the game and that Kona supported him being there. Kelly then said he resigned for personal reasons, why would it look bad towards you?"

"It got more heated after that and Teri Carr had to jump inbetween them and grad her dad and walk him away and was clearly, visably upset with him (Schillinger)."

Ok, I will paraphrase what the two Kona radio people told me. They confirmed the incident first. Then said the station strongly considered not making the trip to Billings with the team. They have now chose to make the trip because of the Fever fans/Kona listeners and for no other reason. They are not making the trip because of the Fever ownership (particulary Schillinger). They also said that this will probably end their two year relationship with the team as far as broadcasting the games is concerned.

There you have it. That is what I have came up with. I had three very reliable sources (right from the horses mouth so to speak).

There is lot's of information concerning this incident on www.indoorbowl.com fan forum. Click on Pacific Conference.

Not a good situation at all. Despite some injuries, the team was sailing along fairly well this season, especially off the field. They may be the most profitable NIFL team. Then Whitsett steps down, allegedly over disagreements with Schillinger, and now this blowup that's received significant play in local media.

No, it is not good. This organization was simply flying along, leading the league in attendance and the talk of the town (in a good way).

Whitsett WAS Fever Football. He helped build it to what it was, he had been here from day one! The Carr's have a great reputation, but they are only half the ownership group. Randy Schillinger runs a tire store in Kennewick and has been a controversial part of this team from day one.

I don't care what any individuals or even players opinion about Whitsett's coaching style is....he has proven himself and went 23-10 and has won a National Championship, and possibly could have won two (we will never know?). People around town are talking and wondering why Schillinger (allegedly) ran him off the way he did. It just doesn't make sense. I know of five team sponsors that have indicated to me that they will not renew their contracts with the Fever in 2007. People around here are not happy with the direction they are now seeing things heading.

I hope that the radio crew does comeback next season for the Fever, they do such an excellent job on all the games and are very nice guys. If they don't comeback I think we would all understand why not specially since Terri Carr is no longer part owner of the team leaving Randy as the sole owner.

Kona radio did a fantastic job covering the Fever. They are fantastic! Mike and Kelly, great job!

I would certainly worry about several things before coming back next season if they even want to. Having Schillinger at the top of the organization and involved with a hands on scenario just is not going to be a good thing. The organization ran so smooth when he stayed away, and seemed t really hit some bumpy waters when he became more inovolved. I just don't see anything good coming out of everybody leaving and having Schillinger running the show.

I agree kona did a fantastic job covering the Fever. Bring on AF2, get Schillenger out of their and save this team. I have been a sponsor for two seasons and I will no longer sponsor the team unless something changes (ie schillenger out). Really upsets me that once we get a good thing going here in the 3 cities, somebody has to ruin it. Why couldn't schillenger keep selling tires and leave the best organization in the League alone.
