All i know for sure is THE RAGE IS PLAYING Saturday...They plan on playing Osceola from all indication from the rage camp; It would be nice to know who the heck we are playing so the players watch the right films and practice accordingly.. Kinda hard to work your offense and defense when you do not know who you will be playing.... The League needs to get their *hit straight and figure this one out pronto..

You have to be kidding me. "...Osceola failed to file its playoff paperwork on time." What in the world does that mean? If that's the real reason, why didn't they forfeit the game last week already? Is this the final straw for Osceola?

According to the NIFL site (http://www.niflfootball.com/NIFLSCHEDULES.htm), Cincinnati forfeited the game to Osceola. No word about playoff paperwork or anything of the sort. At this time the Rage do not know who they are playing this weekend. It appears to be Cincinnati.

Osceola Football has already secured buses and hotel rooms for the trip. According to the head coach and GM, both of which who I talked to this week (before hearing about all this "failure to file playoff paperwork"), they are leaving Kissimmee at 9pm Thursday and arriving in St. Louis on Friday afternoon. If they aren't playing the game after CS and the NIFL told them they were, Carolyn, the league or the Marshals DAMN WELL BETTER reimburse any money that Osceola doled out for the trip.
The NIFL website says that Osceola is in it. The NIFL website says that Cincinnati forfeited the game. I get the feeling that if I sat down to dinner with CS and asked her to pass the salt, I'd get sugar. Or pepper. (Or arsenic.)

I wanted to take a moment to confirm that Osceola will be playing River City this Saturday at 7pm. Our travel plans are in place with the Rage, and we are looking forward to our game this weekend.
It probably would have been a good idea for the Cincinnati Enquirer to follow-up with both ourselves and the NIFL before placing this story.

....dittos. I thought all the riff-raff was gone and done for the year...possibly for good, and the playoffs could get down to serious legit contenders...but NOoooo!!
This has to be the Mother of all Foul-ups.
Confession time: I wanna start my own team out here in Oregon. I work for a housekeeping company, so I have NO money.Never played football outside of high school PE or backyard fooling around. And I have little to NO experience running my own business. CS ought to LOVE me!! I think it could be a done deal, whattya say?
I'd call them the Oregon Steelheads. colors will be black, white, salmon pink and khaki. Our venue? Well, I could talk to Paul Allen, but the Rose Garden is bankrupt. But I know of a big old barn down near Salem we could probably borrow on weekends, if they let the piggies go free-range. AND, we would play on 'Natural Turf' which out here means stumps, blackberries and uncut weeds. an old rusted out vehicle or two would serve as goalposts/endzone markers.
Anyone interested in corporate sponsership? huh?...huh?? LMMFAO

The paper has 2 stories, listed today, and each has a different side of the story. The first one is currently at the top of the list at Oursportscenter (signifying that it's the latest story to be published). It's the version that reports the Marshals' PR guy saying that "We're going to St. Louis" and was put up at 3:26 p.m. A second story, farther down OSC's list, has the Cincy GM saying "I pretty much told the ball players: consider the season over," and posted at 4:33 p.m. That's the version that currently appears on the CE Sports' website; the original story doesn't even appear at this time. All I can think is that the newspaper has recanted its story. Perhaps OSC could/would/should remove that link as well .... ?

Something mighty funny is going on in the inner sanctum of the NIFL. Some people are smokin some serious stuff there. I've heard from a couple sources that the "playoff paperwork" might be a noncompete agreement. Someone in the league office is allegedly telling teams that if they don't sign a noncompete agreement for next season (i.e. they can't leave the NIFL next year for a different league), they can't play in the playoffs. This is secondhand info, but it might make some sense of this situation.

That would really show desperation on the NIFL if the regular season and playoffs are covered by DIFFERENT contracts in order to hold teams for the following year. NKSPORTS you are right "They continue to drill".

From what I've heard, pretty much everyone had refused to sign such an agreement.
So, how would one pick and choose who's in and who's not?
The only way there's an NIFL(legitmate) next year is if there's serious change. Lip service won't do it anymore.

There is a lot of truth behind the non-compete issue. The NIFL also tried to force that at the owners meeting. I would think that is something that a team would be required to sign prior to getting a franchise.
The NIFL knew Osceola's venue situation well before the playoffs. It should have been resolved in a timely manner to allow the Cincinnati team to take care of things at home. I don't think the player's work situation would have been an issue had they been able to notify their employers properly. In regard to who should forfeit...that is a tough call that should not have come down the way it has.
In regard to Billings owing dues. The NIFL still owes them for losing the suit concerning the "Outlaws" name. I'd call that a wash at this point but, the NIFL has done crazier things this past season.
Former NFL RB, Cleveland Gary, will be the new Director of Football Ops for the NIFL. This move was done in hopes of getting the NFL Players Association to endorse the NIFL. The NIFL won't get it.
I was wondering if that was the same Cleveland Gary!
He has no idea what he's getting himself involved in.

Yellowpages, your post meshes nicely with a report I heard last week that a former NFL RB would join the league and basically become a figurehead to take some of the heat off the league office. Looks like he's on board already. Now the only question is if the league will use him as a scapegoat for this entire mess. How's that for your first public responsibility with the league?
Regarding a noncompete agreement, I wonder how one signed under such circumstances would hold up in court. They don't fare too well, anyway, and unless the NIFL is giving them something in exchange, is it really an enforceable contract?
yellowpages
07-12-2006, 12:55 PM
Under the circumstances, the agreement won't hold up in court. Shiver has a poor winning percentage in court. Time for to find other legal counsel.
The best solution for the NIFL is to play the game between Osceola and Cincinnati. Let the rest of the playoffs play out this weekend and then have the winner of the Osceola/Cincinnati game play River City next weekend and delay the Conference finals for a week. By then, everything will be on track. It simply pushes the Championship back for a week.
That is the best solution I can think of.
I agree with FWP, Gary needs to get out now. There are better leagues to be involved in with that is what he is interested in doing.

I'm back....Been a while, but hey, there's really been nothing good to write, say, or compliment. Things seem to stink on both ends of the stick, but that's another story waiting to erupt. Either way, this seems to be yet another attack on the good ole' boys from Osceola. They had it last year (Kiss Kreatures/God rest their souls), and here we go again. Who in their right mind would blame the Osceola ownership for not committing to this league next year. Countless forfeits, name problems, and a total disregard for the players and staff of Osceola by the NIFL front office. Get real CS.....If their is a shred of dignity left, she would honor the game as it stood. A venue was located, and a date was set. Cudo's to the staff for finding one. Although it is a long way for Cinci, that's the price you pay for being a wild card. Hey, it happens. It boils down to Cinci committing to next year (CS smiles) and Osceola says hasta luego (CS frowns :( ) The sad part of it all is that most if not all players have lost interest. Would you have any after all of this? So I say, without a doubt in mind, go on Osceola. Move to a league that has some respect for class acts like yourselves. Much like our blessed hurricanes that pass through our beautiful state, come in, make some noise and do some damage, and leave the mess behind. (key..come in= enter league - damage=good record - mess = NIFL). Like the rock says, Do you smellllllllllll, what the AF2 is cookin!"

That's true as well. It's seems that some Cincinnati fans are trying to hold the Marshals blameless, but no one has explained why it took the team until Thursday(!) to find out the U.S. Bank Arena was unavailable. They essentially threw the ball back to Osceola, and within 24 hours that franchise was able to secure an alternative. Yes, it's rough if you have to leave some guys behind due to work commitments, but that's the price you pay for losing the home field not once, but twice - once on the field and then when it was offered to you.

That's the truth. I'm more than sure the Osceola would have loved to stay home throughout the playoffs, but hey, they dropped a few easy ones and came up short in a couple nail biters. But, as they say on Broadway, the show must go on, and for the bus company, the gas card must be used. Chalk up some more frequent bus miles for Osceola......All aboard!!

Now that I can believe. I wonder if it was the league that informed Cincinnati late about Osceola's inability to host. That would explain why it took the Marshals so long to contact the arena. Just speculation, but we've already seen that the Marshals office isn't making this up, they're getting it from the league.

All teams had to submit availablility dates prior to the 2006 season. Usually the dates submitted run from the 1st of March to the end of July. This includes possible playoff dates. Unless there were last minute schedule changes at the venues, the NIFL should have known what was available and what wasn't.
The smart thing would have been to stay in contact with the teams and the venues and play out the possible playoff scenerios as the regular season came to an end.
The NIFL dropped the ball on this. The playoff paperwork issue is bogus and a flat out lie by the NIFL. Nothing in regard to the forfeit should have been announced until a solution had been determined. The team that gets hurt the worst by this is River City. Wouldn't surprise me if the NIFL looses all three teams involved in this for next season.

Are you so sure you are playing???? Still working on that paper work and Fee's owed to the league from what I hear..... Rules are rules and you guys don't want to think that they apply to you.... Did ya see alot of other people have heard the "paperwork" rumor.. So it is not just me "spewing" rumors...
You know what they say about people who live in glass houses.....

LETS PLAY FOOTBALL AND DO THE TALKING ON THE FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we all have our biased opinions of our teams being the best, so why dont we just let the games play out this weekend and see who's ready or not ready to play, the way the playoffs should unfold. dont get me wrong i hope as well that our guard join a better league whether its the PIFL OR THE INDOOR PRISON LEAGUE(NOW THATS AN IDEA). got to say though im just looking forward to going to the game on sunday and actually seeing a game played then hearing about games not being played. its easy for ppl to say why dont teams just scratch the season, skip the playoffs, and make a stand but ive witnessed in only our second season our team go 13-1 and would like the chance to see if they can finish 16-1 instead of just quitting( which our team is not). so im definently not gonna agree with just scrapping the playoffs. if we can beat lakeland and have to play in river city, then id say that would be an awesome match-up and would love to see the top 2 seeds hook up. yes the pacific conf. is great but the rage better not overlook us if our teams hook up. but just like the rage last year as all the guard fans know, cincinnati ended our season in the playoffs right here in fayetteville. so if by chance the rage slip up and we win then we would have two weeks in a row of revenge games. either way cant wait for games to be actually played, all this talk is getting OLD. PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um, ragefan, if Osceola has been informed that they need to do something to play in the playoffs, you'd think the best team in the league would be informed by now that there was a problem. The truthfulness of your sources is as bad as your own. You have lost every bit of integrity you can possibly lose. I believe there are other web sites you can run to. After all, you voluntarily ran from our last thread after I challenged your sources. Good luck on your future endeavors, choose your future sources wisely...
P.S. I'm not guaranteeing my team will reach the Bowl. I have said in other threads that freaky things happen in the NIFL. I am simply guaranteeing that your posts are total crap...

That's the best suggestion I've heard yet. Let's hope the NIFL league office allows its teams to do just that.
