View Full Version : Playoff Game on a Monday?

What the Hell?
People have to work. If you play football in THIS league and you
don't have a REAL job, you are a COMPLETE LOSER.
In a league where most players should have a full time career that's not in
this bush football league (or at least they should have), why in the
Hell would you have a playoff game on a Monday? Especially on
such short notice! But since following this league for the last two
years, I've come to expect such stupidity.
The game wasn't played because of lack of cash, or willingness to play,
just the fact that they were screwed around with, and scheduled on a
Monday. Well, thank God, I won't have to follow this crap league anymore.
Cincinnati shouldn't have been giving the impression that they were hosting until the last minute. That makes it tough to schedule. It was great that Lakeland stepped forward to try to help out in this situation.
Cincinnati appeared to refuse to man their team in a representative manner for road games all season long. While we can all see the problems with this league, and others for that matter, Cincinnati is responsible for it's own shortcomings.
That's the way it appears to me.

It appears to me that somebody who collects t-shirts from this
so called league and
lives in Nebraska, does not know anything about the situation
in Cincinnati. Don't blame Cincinnati, almost half the games in the league the
last several weeks had to be forfeited on normal playing dates (Saturdays).
A playoff game on a Monday, in a league where
responsible people have normal jobs play, is just plain stupid.
That there has been a leadership problem in this league is a no brainer. There's no question that this league was full of teams that didn't belong playing at this level this year.
Cincinnati appears to be another one of those teams.
While Monday playoff games aren't desireable, they aren't that unusual in any league at this level.

Cincinnati wasn't prepared to participate in the playoffs. The playoffs come up at the end of each season in every league. Everyone knows that's when you'll find out where and when you play if you qualify. Same thing EVERY year.
You aspire to be at the level of the Capitols?
I guess you get what you wish for.

I'm not sure what else Osceola was supposed to do. They obviously knew about their arena's unavailability and reported it to the league. Why wasn't the Cincinnati arena asked to host until Thursday? Were the Marshals dragging their feet or did the league not pass along the info from Osceola? I'm not sure how a Monday game took Cincinnati by surprise at that point. Osceola was not going to have its pick of dates or arenas by the time it heard back from the Marshals late Thursday. Give Osceola credit for finding an alternative in less than 24 hours. Did Cincinnati expect the league to delay its entire playoff schedule by a week while they found a date that would work? Nobody does that.

Knowing the NIFL, my guess is that the LEAGUE was DRAGGING THEIR FEET on things. Email replys from the league consisted of "we're working on it" USBANK ARENA was telling people thursday that the game would be on Saturday and then on Friday, they were telling people there was no game. Then the league decided for the Monday game...the Majority of the Marshals were unable to get off of work in order to make the trip on Monday from what I understand.
It's very interesting to see this struggle... I just hope that everything gets worked out before this CRAP carries over into next season

My original point stands and has yet to be disputed by somebody rational.
A Monday playoff game, or any game scheduled for a Monday
in a league where games should be secondary to your REAL JOB,
is completely stupid.
I feel sorry for you if you play in this league and aren't bright
enough to have a real job.

Unfortunately, you're ignoring the fact that these teams are not primary tenants in their arenas and do not get their pick of dates. Every team wants Friday and Saturday dates, then Sundays if necessary, but you can't get them all the time. Concerts, rodeos and other events want them, too, and the arenas have to accomodate those events as well. You can say Monday games are stupid over and over again, and it will not change the fact that by the time Osceola was informed Cincinnati could not host the game, there was no other choice. What were the other options?

Playoff and any games in this league on Mondays is stupid.
There. I said it again.
Options? Delay it. Cancell it. Forget it. Re-Schedule it. Move it. Forfiet it.
__ __ __ __ IT!
To have all this negative press is like . . . is like . . .
having a playoff game on Monday.
I love fooling around with you guys that really take this
crap seriously. It's not that hard to get you guys going.

Okay, and you obviously have nothing better to do with your time if that's all you're here for. Like no bad press ever comes from cancellations and forfeitures. Great solution.

For everyone else, the Cincinnati discussion has spilled into other threads. One of my big remaining questions is why did it take the Marshals until Thursday to notify the league they couldn't host the game? I can't understand the crux of their complaint. They lost the home field once due to their record, then again when they were offered the playoff game. Sorry, but when you hit the road, you don't get to pick the date and time.

Preeeeee-cisely. The Marshals could have easily cleared this up by beating lame-duck Greensboro in the last week of the regular season and earning the No. 4 seed.
I will tell the people on this thread this ... I write for the paper in Kissimmee. The guy from the Cincy Enquirer who's on this called me earlier today, and we're working together to get to the bottom of this. But when the NIFL establishes the bottom, you've got an awfuly deep dig ahead of you.

Hey Jaxen. Did not know we had another local on here. Raining at your office too? Enough of the local talk. If the past serves as an indicator, then this surely has the making of a huge problem. Why there is even a debate at his moment should be questioned. Osceola should move on, all be it a sad way to advance. I'm sure both teams would have rather played a ball game, but as luck would have it, a major (ficticious) problem came to light. But what can you do. Look at it this way. If a shark nudges it's prey, it's bound to attack and cause trauma. CS has now nudged Osceola, and look for a swift return to kill their playoff hopes. If it were not possible, it never would have become an issue today. Prediction...More excuses come out about rosters, paperwork, scandals, and Osceola gets the rest of the year off. All lies, but hey, what else would you expect from the NIFL at this point. Sorry guys, but your dancing with el diablo, and unfortunately, unlike the playoffs, the NIFL is her home field, and she's not a good loser.
