I heard this on another board from some Fever fans so there is not a lot of information. Hopefully the Fever fans here can give us a scoop.

they need a head coach other than the owner's son

Hate to hear that, but it might be good for Billings. I felt that in your guys bracket the Fever, Katy, or RC would be the strongest against the Outlaws. Either way, it still might come down to pure luck as anyhting can happen in the playoffs. Who knows maybe a change is needed and the team will perform better, but I doubt it.

This sounds about right for the NIFL playoffs when you add the SandShark mess.
The below quote from the former Fever coach should really rally the fan base:
"Whitsett wasn't sure, but he thought that the Fever may go into Monday's playoff game without a head coach. "I think the players will do the coaching," he said."
Fans and the coach deserve better especially at playoff time.

Mr. Whitsett has been a true class act in every one of his dealings with OSC.

We are very sorry to see him go- I guess the front office hides their problems better than average, but this isn't the first time I've heard of the front office and the head coach butting heads. And I geuss that Lt Dan (that's his nickname around here) had had enough of the front office telling him how to coach the team.
I hope we have a coach, but you never know- we started last year with a coaching SNAFU, so I guess we are ending this season with one.
There are good people on both sides of this situation. Doesn't need to turn into a situation bashing anyone. Sometimes things don't work out.
It'd probably be better, and more constructive for your team, to be patient and see how things work out.

Misread the article. Got the coach and owner confused. Thought the OWNER said the players would coach themselves which I considered a huge insult to any staff. My apology to coach Whitsett for my mistake.

Yes, I should also mention that the TC ownership, at least evidenced by fan and sponsor support, appear to be one of the NIFL ownership groups doing things right off the field.

Yeah, a real class act.. Abandon the players when you don't get a long with your owner. no matter how big the personal problems were this is the wrong move at the wrong time. If you didn't like your owner you should have gotten out a long time ago.

FWP-
I know that there is good people on both sides, but I should have gone a little farther on my "front office" wording. The Team is owned by two different families, and the side that has always caused the trouble has been the Schillenger side, probably over their son(the kicker). But to say I'm bashing, well yes and no- Let the coach run the team- The Carrs( other owners) keep their 2 cents out of the coaching decisions, like it should be.
But as for the team, we will support them just like last year and will be their Mon night as they beat Wyoming and move on to defend their championship!!
Aces- He is a class act- but sometimes the owners (the schillengers)don't give you a chance to do your job, so you can't just bag on him.
Technically, I guess you can call it two families, in reality though it's the same family.
They're ALL good people, Coach Whitsett, the Schillingers and the Carrs. Doesn't mean that we'll agree with everything that's done at all times, but we don't know everything either. Sometimes people that work too closely together will have a split.
I had noticed a difference in Coach Whitsett's tone as injuries seemed to be non-stop for the team this year. I'm sure it's been tough on the entire organization.
I'm certainly not going to pester them to see what happened, I'm going to have to respect that the right thing has been done. Sometimes good people need to separate, maybe it's just for a while, maybe it's permanent.
I really believe your ownership group is going to do what they think is best for the team, and in turn for you, the fans.
It's easy to try to make somebody the bad guy. That isn't always the case. Sometimes there isn't a bad guy.

We will agree on that note- both sides are doing good just to state the comment then leave it alone- so I guess I will too as of now

FP, good luck in your game on Monday. I picked you guys and Katy to be in the finals for the Pac. conf. Maybe things will work out and hopefully your team is healthy enough going into the playoffs, they might just surprise the rest of the conf. Later Drew

Wishful thinking to host the Indoor Bowl huh? Neither will make it that far and one will fall this weekend.

GO, That has crossed my mind, but to be honest it's hard on any team to win three in a row and make it to the finals. Your team and mine have an advantage. Last year there were surprises and I expect the same this year. Katy and TC have good teams so don't take them lightly. I hope we don't or both of us will be praising someone else down the road. I think if the other O's win at Cincy they can beat the Rage so we, if we win, will host the Atl. game.

Thanks Drew- I hope we pull it off- You never know, it could be like last year and have some upsets, but I'll be there screaming my head off as usual. But when we win, this week, we know we have a long hard road ahead of us to make it back to the championship- I heard we had a sellout again- so it should be right around 5500- loud people

Just giving you a bad time. I would be making that same kind of predictions if I were in your shoes. It is almost more nerve racking when your team is "supposed" to win. There will be at least a couple upsets, just need to cheer and hope your team comes to play.

To FP, you have to keep the faith, and see how it turns out. Good luck.
To GO, not a problem, a little trash talking never hurt anyone. But you can't blame anyone for not wanting to stay at home the whole playoffs. You guys will determine your own destiny and sit in the catbird seat, everyone else is playing catchup right now. We just have to wait and see who gets upset as I feel not all of the top seeds will win every game. It might just come down to a 3 vs. 5 in the finals, like Katy and Cincy, who knows, it's the playoffs and no true team is a push over from here on out.

keep on underestimating the Rage...:p Lets not forget we are 13-1 and we played real teams for the most part... Although we ended with 2 forfeits we played strong and did not have our starting QB for most of the season and lost 2 key players in the beginning also.. But now everyone is back and healthy... so do not count us out yet....

Ragefan, that is my point no one had better take anyone lightly. But in your case please do, so we don't have to travel to St. Louis. Doubt that will happen, but there is still hope until the end of next weekend anyhow.

That is the thing with this league...No one can sit back and expect to win it all.. Just look at last year, some teams who lost in the first round were predicted to win it all and lost instead. No one thought Rome would get as far as they did. Except Rome fans i guess...
You have got to go out with all you got and play to win....
We are looking for redemption from last years first round playoffs ... To lose in double overtime like we did was just crazy... It was a great game but we just could not pull it off.. I think our players are so focused right now. We have everyone back and are ready... But they know it is anyone's game to win or lose... Over the past two years we are 14-2 at home and one loss was in playoffs on double overtime and the other was a last second touchdown so we are tough to beat at home..But it is anyone's game from here on out...
Good luck to all the playoff teams....

Ragefan, it was a last second touchdown your team didn't get that was the deciding factor. You still lost by 7 - at home. When I look at the stats, it was very close except for one. Billings had 12 penalties while RiverCity had 3. Home field advantage was evident, your team needed to take advantage of it. We hope to meet you for a rematch of the best 2 teams in the NIFL. Unfortunately, freaky things happen in the playoffs...

ya that is why i said we lost two at home....???? By a touchdown to billings and in double overtime..No doublt home field is to that teams advantage.. But we were undefeated on the road this year... Crazy things go on all the time.....No one can predict what will happen.... Is Billings playing in the playoff's???? Lawsuit???? Is that settled?? It would be crazy to not get to play because of a stupid lawsuit..

Two points regarding the Billings game:
It was a touchdown loss, rather than a 3 point loss because the Rage coach opted to let Billings score the TD with 43 seconds to go to allow the Outlaws to go up by 7 rather than run the clock out and lose by 3 points as the Outlaws have an outstanding kicker. The Rage coach was quoted that he knew they would grind out the clock and win on a field goal and he knew they had a great kicker because he had kicked for the Rage coach at the NIFL All Star game last year when the NIFL All Stars beat the Odessa team.
As to the penalties, you may also note that the Rage is the 3rd least penalized team in the league while Billings is 17th. That might account for the penalty disparity.

Can you fill me in on what you are talking about? Why wouldn't we play?

Rage fans - I'm thinking you must be talking about the Outlaws name. That was decided months ago. Billings has the Outlaws trademark and Osceola tried to use it. The courts agreed with Billings, but the NIFL snubbed us. Only when we started proving we could be a championship team did the NIFL finally recognize the legal verdict. As for not being allowed to play in the playoffs, that was kind of a stupid statement...
P.S. I love stats, I found where you got yours. The Rage averaged 5.45 penalties per game while Billings averaged 8.83 penalties per game. That's a difference of 3.38 penalties per game. A far cry from the actual 9 penalty difference in our game.

no it is some silly thing about them still not paying dues to the league .. Just stupid stuff that should be resolved but isn't... I would hate for the top ranked team to not play because the owners and the NIFL can't get on the same page.. All the teams want the top teams in the playoff's .... Hopefully it can get taken care of and everyone will play who should...I know that is one of the rules that all dues and fines must be paid or that team will not be allowed to play in the playoff's

ragefan: I, too, am curious at what you are implying. Are you saying Billings hasn't paid it's dues to the league??? Where are you getting this highly questionable information? The Cincinnati Enquirer? Please back up your gossip before spewing as The Outlaws are one of the classy organizations in this horribly run league.

Well, ragefan, how do you feel about all the newly found ineligible players on RiverCity's team that is going to force them to forfeit their playoff game? Apparently Osceola and Cincinnati will play for the right to go to the NIFL Eastern Conference Championship game!
OK, that sounded silly. I made that up. But hey, you started it...

You are the only one in your sewing circle excreting this crap. Still waiting on your "proof". I'm sure you will scurry off and post the same BS elsewhere without backing it up...

Here are several reasons that I will have a hard time continuing to support the Tri-Cities Fever in their current state.
#1. The main owners, Teri and J.R. Carr have left the organization completely. Teri was hands-on and did a great job running this team. She was the face of the Fever, always around and taking care of things.
#2. Something very strange happened between Schillinger and Coach Dan Whitsett, but since the Carr's left, I am guessing Schillinger ran him out.
#3. The person we always dealt with in the fever office was Cyndy. She was the glue that kept that place together. She has also left the organization.
#4. We are staying in the NIFL (according to sole owner Randy Schillinger). That stands alone as a reason not to continue to support this team. The League is a joke and I would rather watch the Tri-City Knights play semi-pro football.
#5. Ron Childs is done and the core group from the Championship team will be missing next year. Not enough local players on the team and losing Childs and Jelinek will make it even fewer.
#6. Just not a fan of owner Randy Schillinger. Don't know him personally at all, but have seen him on the field after games and in the owners box watching. Everything I have heard and seen, we are in trouble with him being the sole owner of this team.
I haven't had the chance to talk to Teri yet since this happened. But she's always been very supportive of her family, including her Father. She put everything into whatever she did. Perhaps she and the family decided it was time to spend with the kids for a while, I don't know, but from experience I do know they grow fast. There comes a point where you aren't planning your activities around their soccer games.....and you kind of miss it. I'll always wish the best, always.
On the other hand, as far as the Fever are concerned.
Stay tuned. You won't be disappointed.
