Game Monday night was definately a disappointment for the folks in the southeast. The 'event' though was way cool. Rome even had a bald eagle out there during the National Anthem. Sell out crowd and Rome had to turn over a hundred away. 'About time ! While Canton is certainly a deserving champion, acquisition of Mason and Polk were obviously super moves by Coach Olive, Rome basically imploded. More turnovers that they had in four or five games added together. You turn the ball over six times indoors and there's NO WAY to win.

You know, it's a little tiring to see all these comments about how Rome gave it away.

Canton got six turnovers because they TOOK the ball away from Rome. Rome didn't just walk up and hand the ball over. They faced a defense like they hadn't seen before and made mistakes, but the defense EARNED those turnovers.

This wasn't the a pseudo paper tiger of a 9-6 Raleigh squad on the field facing Rome. This was a deserving champion and they were underestimated. Making excuses like "Rome gave it away" is insulting to the team who whipped a little Renegade ass by three touchdowns.

I agree. Canton EARNED that win. Rome didn't give it to them. Canton played a better game than Rome therefore CANTON IS A BETTER TEAM!

Yes, Canton played a MUCH better game....But look at the film, Bartik threw two INT's to Canton players who weren't covering anyone. I mean, there weren't any Rome players anywhere near two of the 4 INT's.. As I said before Rome imploded. Yes give Canton credit, but they didn't Dominate the game the way you guys want to make it sound.

Outcast, I've heard from a couple of Canton people about their overall experience at the game and the Forum itself. Just curious what you though about the whole thing. Most importantly where were your seats and how did you like them?

I wasn't at the Forum.

I saw the game film yesterday morning at the Legends front office. The staff and I have a good relationship.

This is how I was able to tell that Canton earned the win and Rome didn't just hand it away.

Saw the video...Shame you couldn't be there to see it in person. It was a great game.

An absolute shame.

I had the opportunity to hop the plane with the Legends, but I needed to stay and work. Plus, I didn't want to leave my 7-year-old behind for the 2-3 days I would have been away.

But what's up with the end zones in the Forum???

If it's the size you're refering to. We have midget endzones on purpose, so our tiny recievers are the only ones that can fit in them. ;) No, the "Fabulous" Forum isn't fit for much more than a worm wrestle. The designers didn't have indoor football in mind all those years ago either.Come to think of it, they didn't have anything in mind besides throwing the thing up and getting their kickbacks.... But that's for another message board.

Gonzo,
I was there. I will tell you that the Legends did not dominate the game because the Renegades were in it up until the Matthews pic that was returned for a TD. I was a bit worried up till then that you turned the ball over so much and were still in it. That is a good defense you have.

You asked about our overall experience.

I was very impressed with how much we enjoyed ourselves at the game. We had purchased seats Sec. 107, Row G. However, the Legends were generous enough to ask us to stand near their locker room. So, we were across the field on the Legends side about the 5 yard line all night.

The crowd was big and the Forum is small. It got loud in there at times. It got quiet in there at times. Typical football game. The fans we spoke with were very kind (you know the usual "It's going to be a long trip back to Canton") and very excited about their team.

The field: Someone told us that a yard is actually 2.5 feet in Rome. Must be true because our guys were getting called for being offside alot. The endzone is really small. I think that works to a disadvantage against a good defense down close. Most of Jo Jo's pics were in the scoring zone (10yd line in).

Dance team: Well, somewhat unimpressive. I would rate our local high school better. They did one dance routine all night and mostly was helping out with the promotions.

Merchandise: There was merchandise everywhere. T-shirts, programs etc. Even capitalized on the opportunity and was signing people up for 2007 season tickets (I was asked if I wanted to buy 2007 season tickets ... I declined). Even the League had tables set up with T-shirts and hats. Kinda pricey, but whatever.

All in all, we had a good time there. Any more questions, just ask.

Thanks for your honest evaluation of the game. I guess my pride in my team doesn't want anyone to think that the Renegades were blown out........ I'm glad you all enjoyed your visit. Maybe our teams can lock horns again down the road somewhere. And maybe next time the outcome will be different ;)

I'd also like to say for the record...... Indoor football is just about the greatest entertainment ever!!

The way it turned out this time was just fine, thank you. ;)

It was a 47-40 game in the fourth quarter. Hardly a blowout. Game was decided with about 3 to go.
