View Full Version : Odessa to Rename Coliseum
It is What it Was
07-03-2006, 10:40 PM
Dateline: Odessa, Texas, July 2, 2006.
The Odessa Roughnecks announced earlier today, in conjunction with the cities of Odessa and Midland, that the Ector County Coliseum will be renamed to the Williams Cancer Center. In response to the name change, Coach Chris Williams stated that "it is what it is". The team also announced that the team MVP award will be named from here on out, the "Espo". The award needed to reflect perfection, ESPN has its "Espys" and we will have our "Espo", said the Roughnecks owner. The "Espo" will be awarded at the end of the regular season to the player deemed most pivotal to the Roughnecks success and/or failure.

Wouldn't it be nice to have some comments about the team? Any word on how the guys are reacting to their first loss?

Sure, I can tell you that. It doesn't bother them one bit...does losing hurt and suck?? Yes, of course. But all that defeat did was eliminate the pressure of an undefeated season. Now these guys won't be scared about playing from behind...they battled back from down 15 under 4 minutes left, and had a fg chance to win. They're still in first place by *3* games, they still need just one win in the next four to clinch homefield throughout the playoffs, and they've done a good job of pulling together after this, and not pointing fingers.
Had a long 4th of July time off, some guys even went home, and they were back at practice today. Plus, the next few weeks will see some much needed time off, since these guys will play 17 straight weeks up to the championship game. I think D Graham is out this week with that groin strain, but it shouldn't be anything long term.
If you ever have to lose, do it on the road...do it when a seeding isn't up for grabs, and lose to a team that was playing way wwaaaaaayyyy over their heads. That's what Odessa did. Plus, it gives the coaches a little extra ammunition to play with. The guys know what they did wrong, and have pulled together...I know they'll be okay.

We were wondering when you were going to ooze back out from under your rock! You are really a sad, pathetic excuse for a human being. Why are you so concerned with what's going on in Odessa? Can't you just let it go? You just can't do it, can you? Come on TVV. Give it a shot. Let go of the past. You said you got what you want. Now move on.
Can't do it, can you? ;)

damn, talk about getting personal, Fido. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!!
It would be in order if the Renegades website would at least acknowlege the loss.
I didn't see the game, obviously, and wonder if Coach Espo would have fared better

See? I knew you couldn't let it go.
Actually, the ROUGHNECKS scored 63 points in that game. It was the defense, which Espo recruited, that didn't get the job done. So I doubt the outcome would have been much, if any, different. The defense has been weak all season long.
If you like Espo so much, why don't you urge the TVV ownership to hire him?
And as far as the ROUGHNECKS website is concerned. The site "webmaster" does the site for free on the side when he's not busy running his other business. It's not the greatest site admittedly. But, he's just a devoted fan who does it to help the team.
Who are the Renegades??

Who are the Renegades?? :rolleyes:Renegades?? Roughnecks?? What's the difference, Fido?? Perhaps i should call them the Williams. We have our coach NOW thank you. Far superior to the one we started the season with, as evidence by the performance and attitudes of our players. I just asked the natural question about your coaching change. Wonder how you players are getting along financially w/o Espo paying them under the table?

TVV...Most first losses are inevitable. I did not see you on here saying anything when Williams and staff came in under extreme circumstances and won the first two games. Obviously you were just waiting on the "inevitable first loss" to come out from under the rock. See you on here in six weeks because we won't lose again.

... yet you STILL just can't seem to let it go.

That would be a valid concern, if that had even been an issue to begin with. The only player that Espo was "allegedly" paying under the table was QB Tommy Jones. That was just a rumor started by the press that spread to the message boards. I'm sure if he, or any player for that matter, was being paid under the table it's doubtful that any of them would still be playing for this team or the league. First off, it's against the rules, as is the case for most leagues. Second off, most players wouldn't continue to play taking that kind of paycut, under the table or not.
Besides, the players on the team are averaging around $250 per game. On top of that, all their living expenses and most of their meals are covered by the team. That alone rivals the pay in most minor indoor leagues, including the af2.
But, just keep bringing the pot shots. It only continues to prove your ignorance, not to mention the fact that you're a bitter crybaby that lives in the past. Just let it go.
Do we come over to the af2 boards posting this crap? No! You know why? Because we don't give a rat's ass about your team or your league. So the pot, kettle, and all the other BS you rant about on this board is just that ... BS.
Keep it coming though. You're a complete idiot. We like laughing at you.

TVV...We are glad that your new coach has proven himself to be superior do to attitudes of the players...because he sure did not prove that with his time management at the end of the Bossier-Shreveport game LOL. We keep up with you too LMAO!

Is that what all the coach bashing was about, you might want to check your facts a little, Coach P was the co-offensive coordinator, who calls now and then the run offense only, (because he is the o-line coach) as that is what he has done here in the past, so before you get back on that rant you might want to get your facts straight first. I know Coach Williams has always called the plays down here, don't know why it would change their, and we all know he is quite qualified to do so. Just happened to run into some trouble their, with injuries and such. So if that is what your apparent dislike is for Coach P, might want to offer up an apology and find the next bash subject on your list of why Tennesse Valley lost.

The o-line coach?? I guess that explains why we had absolutely no blocking schemes. Guess he was more concerned w/ the buffett.
