Here is a small snippet (in relation to the Trashers) of what was played for Judge Burns by the prosecutors in the United States of America vs James Galante yesterday:
Prosecutors played a tape of a call in which they say Galante tells an associate to pressure league officials to get the referee, James Harper, to change his account of what happened. They also played a tape of a call between the associate and the hockey league president, Richard Brosal.
"I'm on instructions this morning," the associate says. "He wanted me to impress upon you how important it is to get that letter from Mr. Harper."
"That letter will be faxed first thing Monday," Brosal says. "It will say what we need it to say."
In an interview, Brosal denied trying to pressure the referee. He said the referee had already indicated he didn't want to press charges.
Hopefully this trial will air as much dirty laundry as possible regarding the way Brosal runs the UHL. With any luck it will be so bad the Board of Governors will send Brosal packing.
