There is alot of room for debate in the top 5.. I couldnt even totally decide whether to put Rapid City at 3 or 5. Lakeland and Fayetteville...Lakeland has more losses and lost to an opponent Fayetteville beat twice..But then Lakeland beat Fayettevill...So it was tough.. Anyhow it doesnt matter..The playiffs are what matters. Anyhow submitted for your opinions and comments...

1 Billings -- Won two huge games against Rapid City ...Has to be considered the team to beat right now.
2 River City-- Looks like the road to the Indoor Bowl in the East will go thru River City..Boy theyve done it quietly too havent they?
3 Lakeland-- Lost to Osceola and River City ..Had a big win against Fayetteville..They bring it every week
4 Fayetteville -- Beat alot of cupcake teams but make no mistake this is a solid team.. They are capable of beating any of the top teams if things go their way
5 Rapid City -- beat everyone but Billings and played them close theyll get another shot at them in the West conference chapmpionship
6 Katy--- The under the radar team not getting alot of love.. good record solid team
7 Tri Cities--- Last years champ and plays tough every week
8 Osceola--- 5 tragic losses by a total of 10 points better than their record..can play with anyone
9 Montgomery--- Too bad for that La Funyon firing the team thing..These guys play hard and may make the playoffs
10 Florida-- Too bad they got off to a bad start..this isnt a bad team
11 Beaumont--- theyve gotten smacked around a few times but compete well most of the time
12 Cincinati -- - better record than 9 and 10 but not a better team in my opinion
13 Wyoming -- they can rise up and beat some of the good teams
14 Charleston --- abandon ship they're sinking fast
15 Greensboro--- they almost win sometimes
---===now for the who gives a s@*t section
since some or all of them are no longer playing==-----
16 Arkansas---.. Only because they are still playing
17 Dayton--- same..i think they are still playing but no home venue
18 Tennessee---... Still playing i think but they suck out loud
19 Palm Beach--- could have been a decent team if they had a decent owner
20 Big Sky--- a cake is done..they are finished
21 Twin City-- what a sad sack organization..They are done...
22 St Joes/ Lincoln--- Ive never seen a worse team than this.

Jimbo, First let me say congrats on the win and do it again this week over in Lakeland. Now to your rankings, I think you have the number #1 team right, but from there down it's a coin toss for #2. Really you have about 4-5 #2 teams on the list. I think also that at some point we all have played weak or cupcake teams. Too bad this year the league is not a bit more competitive from top to bottom. With that being said, if you look at the all the teams in the playoffs you can say for sure you have the top 12, but then again we only have probably 15 teams worth talking about in the long run. One final note I think it was like a #6 or 7 seed (Rome)that made the finals last year, hope all of the teams don't sit on their butts and think the playoffs will be easy, they won't.

There was alot of debate 2 thru 5 it was a tough call. You have 2 loss Rapid city who only lost to Billings and they were both close. You have River City with one loss only to Billings...You have Fayetteville with only one loss but it was to 2 loss Lakeland who lost to Osceola who lost to Fayetteville twice. So its a big mess....Safe to say that in the playoffs in the East River City, Fayetteville, Lakeland, or Osceola could come come out on top...Yes I added Osceola in there...It sounds like Im a homer but they are capable of playing with the top teams and proved it yesterday..By the way that game vs Lakeland could have been about 48-24 honestly..They fumbled on the 5 on their first drive and had an INT on about the 5 heading into the half. In the west though it I cant see it being anything but Billings or Rapid City..Though take Katy seriously... They could upend one of the big boys..

Jimbo, I knew your team would show me some love. Congrats. Your choices have some merit, but I am here to poke holes in your list. Billings is truly #1, but I am sure the Messy Ratings will find a way to screw that up yet again. You should have placed Rapid City #3 instead of #5. They've dominated everyone but Billings. No reason to drop them that far. I envision RC playing Lakeland or Fayetteville and I just don't see RC losing to either (on a neutral field). Swap Katy and Tri-Cities. Katy has a fine record, but haven't proven themselves to be an elite team. Tri-Cities is a MUCH better team. They have proven themselves through a very difficult schedule. If Katy played the same schedule as Tri-Cities, they wouldn't even make the playoffs. You've got Wyoming way too low. I know they are 6-6, but their losses are all to top teams. And they are a ***** to play on the road. I'd bet a paycheck that Wyoming would not lose a single game *at home* to any Atlantic team. They should be #9 on this list. After #10, I just don't care.

There is always room for discussion and debate no matter how you slice it.. Its really tough to call right now..Was alot easier a few weeks aago...you are right about the who cares factor though after #10... And how about that pile of garbage down at the bottom of the list.

Nutz, nice to see you again! I gave your Beaumont team a generic "top team" label simply because they have a winning record and had a couple quality wins. I still don't see Beaumont in the same class as Billings, Rapid City, Tri-Cities, Katy, or Wyoming. You did manage to barely (luckily) beat Wyoming at home, but you got totally stomped in Wyoming. I don't think a lot of folks outside of Texas think you are better. Don't make me modify that statement to "You've got Wyoming way too low. I know they are 6-6, but their losses are all to top teams - except for Beaumont, who actually sucks."

If we would have a decent kicker..... The wyoming game may have went better in casper.... It surely cost us against Tri cities, His missed Pats and fg were the margain of victory. Tric Cities ONLY road win of the season has been over Us... That point was brought up to me by Coach Dan.

I have NEVER said that Bmt should be mentioned with the top 3 teams in the Pac. Billings and RC would definatly have their way with us. Katy, we have 1 win and 2 loses, 1 being a semi blowout, the other to close. Tri cities, we gave them all they could handle, In their building??? who knows... Wyoming, a split... the game in casper really should have been a better game, but it wassnt...

Could we do some damage in the playoffs? A tri cities type of run... Probably not, but i would love to see it!

Just to clarify it up for you....

Semi-Pro, if you are going to lay out some rankings, at least have a little common sense. Fayetteville is a good team, but they have proven nothing against an elite team (sorry Osceola, I still think you are a GOOD team). Fayetteville had only one opportunity at an elite team and lost big-time to Lakeland - which you put at #5? Bring your argument for your rankings.

Nutz, Wyoming beat the snot out of Tri-Cities earlier this year, and your guys beat Wyoming. So, anything can happen, but you will definitely have your hands full. We in Billings will be rooting for you, trust me. We feel your pain regarding kickers. We FINALLY got one for the Rapid City game (after several games without one) and it paid off. But, I don't feel very comfy with a kicker named Blewett...

Fayetteville at #1, huh? Semi-pro, you're a little off on this one. Let's see, Fayetteville beat your #8 team twice, that's it. Billings beat your #3 team (in their building), your #4 team twice (once in their building), and your #7 team. It's cool though, the lack of respect continues. Being underdogs makes The Outlaws a better team.

Cincinati should be below Montgomery and Florida...Florida is 6-6, So is Montgomery.. Both teams (somehow) beat Osceola and Cincinati got their corn kicked by Osceola. Cincinati's 7-5 mark is inflated by beating cupcakes like Arkansas and Dayton... Also lost to Dayton..So no way they are 9th no matter what their record is.

To those who think teams are way overrated or did not get the respect deserved, check this out;
Billings-6 wins from gimme teams (Big Sky (3), TN (1), and Lincoln (2)
Rapid City-5 wins from gimme teams (Lincoln (3), Big Sky (2)
Guard-3 wins (WPB (2), TN (1)
The list goes on but I have to leave, expect more as food for thought.

Drew, nice attempt at a spin. Any elite team should be able to defeat the mediocre and outright crappy teams on their schedule - even if it is 6 of them. What REALLY matters is playing and defeating TOP teams. THAT is how you prove yourselves. You can't really say a whole lot because your team has played exactly ONE top team and got totally b*tch-slapped doing it (at Lakeland). So, you have no ACTUAL argument to ANYTHING other than being better than mediocre. Think about it, your team has proven exactly nothing. My top 5 teams after Billings are RiverCity, Rapid City, Lakeland, Fayetteville, then Tri-Cities (before they played us tonight). Billings has played 3 of those 5 teams in 6 games for a record of 5-1. As always, your mediocre schedule isn't your fault, but at least put up a fight when you play that one top team...

P.S. Tri-Cities was absolutely destroyed by the Outlaws tonight. The game was not near as close as the 54-18 score.

GT, don't forget the mighty Greensboro squad Fayetteville played twice. I believe it was a "gimme team" which allowed Fayetteville to play 8 home games and only 6 road games. Besides, who gives a crap if some of the wins are against bottom-tier teams? It's the quality wins that count. NOBODY has beat the number of top-tier teams that The Outlaws have. You must be a "the glass is half empty" kind of guy. I have River City as the top team out east. Still waiting to see if Katy or Fayetteville can beat a top-five team...

Seeing that i was at the billings/ river city game, which was by far one of the best games of the year. I would rank billings then river city. We shall see come playoffs, the Atlantic goes through STL. (if all goes as seeded) Dont worry Guard fans. Fort wood is not too far down south, and last year they bussed enough up, that they were cheering for the guard. But that was last year. Good luck to all.

PS. outlaw, is your kicker healthy Grarca(or something like that) he was jumping in on or making the tackle on every kick off. Attidute and mouth of a linebacker stuck in a kicker. Dude was nuts.

RageFan1, your team gets a lot of love for proving themselves in the East. We hope to meet you in the championship game and give you the chance for revenge. As for Garcia, he is truly a LooneyToon asset, but has been out injured for several games. We went kickerless for most of those games and it hurt us tremendously, costing us a lot of points and almost costing us games. We recently acquired a temp kicker while Garcia mends. Blewett has been doing a great job for us.

OutlawsFan, it was the WPB (WHO) that the Guard played twice at home, because they did not have an field. Kind of like your guys playing Big Sky two or three times, not a good team at all.

OO, and RageFan, I guess until we (Guard) beat a Lakeland and/or River City in the playoffs you still will have no respect for the Guard. No matter, but don't be on here whining if your team should fall to the likes of Tri Cities, Katy, RC and RageFan to the other O's or T-bolts or the Guard. I think it's going to get interesting once the playoffs get started and I won't whine either. Good luck to all. Drew.

Finatic, I know you can't see much at all, but anyhow, I sure would like for you to come back to F'ville and play us for a third time. Now that probably won't happen, as you still have to beat the boys from AL and Lakeland I think, but we'll see as anything can happen once you get in. By the way, check on the paperwork or whatever the league needed for you to make the playoffs, otherwise beating the Maulers will mean nothing.

The big wild card in this is the Katy Copperheads. Nobody can really say either way if they can take on an elite team because we just haven't seen it in the past few weeks. They have taken to running up the score big time just to stay motivated (a good tactic in this league), but we just don't know about that squad just yet. They might be able to trip up some bigger name opponent simply because they are tired of playing patsies, or they might prove not to be ready to take on the giants. Only a playoff game will give those answers.

GTDREW
06-27-2006, 05:31 PM
I might be wrong but I think Katy will hold their own. Why they might even end up in the finals. Last year, you never knew for sure who would win a game and that's what makes the game so good. Like I said before, a one point win is still a win, believe me, all of us Guard fans know that from last year, as it came down to the final play on a two point conversion, we lost 70-69 I think.
