Who knows how true it is. But based on information from analysts with a few brokerage houses from Norwalk, CT and NYC, the USBL might be bought for around $26 million next week. Cash and stock; the stock being from a FORTUNE 1,000 company based in Charlotte, NC. $26 million? Not bad. I guess this was the USBL's year. In any event, I am told it is closer to $17.8 million which is still more then Joe Newman ever stole.

They are trading for .99 a share (up 29 cents as of 2:50 CDT). Unless there are 29 million shares floating around, I don't know how accurate a figure that would be. That's a mighty steep price for a shoestring budget league.

What? This has to be a very late April fools joke. In the east, 2 teams have stopped playing (PA, NEPA) and a third (Long Island) is just a league operated team that will not return next season. In the west, only Dodge City seems on solid ground.
After the ABA and USBL debacles, I am wondering if there are any minor basketball leagues that are legit.

At least the IBL stepped in to run Lansing for the rest of this season instead of having a mid-season fold. I think that the D League is the only stable one out there, although the IBL at least playing its games and seems to look good for next year.

Teams left, but it's been a while since a team folded mid-season.
