I'll be heading up to Joliet, IL next month to meet up with a friend and take in a Jackhammers game, can anybody tell me what it's like?

I've been to minor league games before, but never in the Northern League.

Thanks!!

The Jackhammers have a beautiful ballpark and the atmosphere is great. When you get there, check out the winding staircase that leads down to the street level gift shop.

Competition-wise, Northern League play is almost Double-A quality.

Cool!

Thanks for letting me know! From what I saw in the pictures, the park looked pretty nice, but I'm spoiled by GCS Ballpark, formerly GMC Stadium. :)

I'm sure we'll have a good time.

I agree with Ken.

Joliet, IMO, is the most architecturally striking of all Northern League ballparks (past and present). Others may have more amenities, but Joliet's main entrance is a true gem.

You should check out my JackHammers guide (http://www.nlfan.com/joliet/). It has ticket information, directions, ballpark descriptions, lots of photos (like the one above) and suggestions about food and lodging while you're there.

You might also try posting in the nlfan.com forums (http://p200.ezboard.com/bnlfanmessageboard) to contact some Hammers fans to meet before you get there. There are several there who I'm sure (like Ken would if you went to Gary) love to stop by and say "Hi" and maybe watch part of the game with you.

I'm sure you'll have a great time.

My buddy up in Joliet went to a game last weekend. He said it was a lot of fun. He also said that it was a bit more expensive than what we have down here in St. Louis..hahaha

We'll be up on June 24th. My wife is going to a bridal shower that day, and told me I should have plans to do something else. So I'm showing her! I'm leaving the state!
