One of the three markets listed in the first post is going to be home to the GLIFL's next team.

I think I'm going to file this one away with all the other stupid idiots with spam for brains. Unless you got the jack up front, don't mess with it.

I am really confused about all the negative comments!

It shows what kind of people you are though!

Real men are contacting me and asking what they can do to help!

I am just trying to help a league that needs a little bit of support!

So, thank you to all the coaches, players, and organizations that are helping!

Sorry, Jeff.
Indoor football doesn't work with two teams in one city.

And I'm not personally attacking, I'm being honest.

We are just trying to make do with what we have at our disposal!
We are going to use the smaller arenas for now.
And just try to give some more players a chance to play indoor fb!
Thank you for your input!

Prince George's County only has one arena.
And the GLIFL is using that for 2007.

I am really confused about all the negative comments!

Because every year, someone new comes on this board with big announcements about their new league.

Most are half-baked.

You haven't really given us any info about the league.
You tell us it was formerly _____ but we never heard of that league either.
Website?
Structure?
How much will players be paid?
When is the season? You are going to try and compete with the NFL in the Fall?
Do you have investors with the money and stamina to pull this off? AIFL & NIFL is littered with the carcasses of big ideas with nothing to back them up.

You can tell us your resume, but until we see something concrete, your league is assumed to be vaporware... Show us something before you make boasts.

Not negativity... pragmatic realism.

OK Internet tough guy

It's nothing personal. You manage a Blockbuster with some side projects. That's fine. Too many people think they can start minor league teams (leagues) with little or no money and be successful.
This ain't one of those no-money-down propositions as seen on late night TV infomercials.
I've said it before in other posts, but too many people think they can send out a few press releases, get a little money in tryout fees and some early ticket sales and when the season starts, everyone is going to buy tickets and you're awash in money.
The reality is most of these people come in with no business plan and no market research. Then when they find only modest attendance to start the season with little income coming in and a lot of expenses going out, then they find out they are in over their heads and have to fold up shop — like more than a half-dozen teams have already this season.
I'm not trying to be "an internet tough guy" for the sake of being mean. Too many people have had their lives and livelyhoods messed with.
To do this right, it takes about $750,000 just to get started. Even with healthy attendance (3,500 average attendance is the break-even point for most of these teams), you aren't going to see dime one for about three years. And in the end, even some of the better run teams struggle to build a fan base.
So I'll leave it at that, say good luck and don't be smoking some of the same stuff they do in the NIFL and AIFL offices.

It does seem a little late to get going for a season starting at the end of August. When you look at teams that have done that you see alot of them don't make it.

But I wish you the best of luck. Plan well, work hard, and keep things on the up and up. Let's see what you can do.
