I am wondering from a fans' point of view. Which teams are solid and which are struggling? Is the Alaska franchise as good as it seems to be? How well-run is the league and its' officials? If a person were looking into purchasing a franchise is the ECHL the place to be? I would appreciate any and all kinds of feedback. Thanks hockey fans, you are the greatest!

Yep, the ECHL is the place to be. (preferably Boise) Its the best place to play in the ECHL. I know that the Idaho Steelheads shouldnt struggle this season. (cant believe it is their 10th season). I am not sure about Alaska. The League is very well run, in my opinion, we have a pretty good way of doing things in the ECHL.

Lets get this up and going again. Personally I think the reffing is sub par.

I think these teams are run well:
Elmira
Alaska
Charlotte(theres a reason there moving a league up)
Ontario
South Carolina
Florida
Utah
Idaho

There are many well ran teams in the league, and I'll omit my own team (Las Vegas Wranglers) so I am not viewed as a homer. Ontario, Idaho, Cincy, South Carolina are the teams that come to mind. With the exception of Ontario, Idao, Cincy and South Carolina all have proven track records of winning. Ontario just runs an excellent operation all the way from the arena all the way to their on ice product. Charlotte was moved up to the AHL not because they're some storied ECHL franchise, but it logistically makes sense for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Personally, I think having a franchise in Alaska hurts the league. The travel costs of flying up to Anchorage for a 3 or 4 game series isnt very cost effective. Not only do the teams need to fly to Alaska (which is a 6 hour or so flight) they also need to charter their own bus to get to and from the airport/hotel/arena. All 7 of the Western Conference teams that visit Alaska are faced with this problem.

Do you think Chicago will be a good addition?

I guess you could say the same for the Victoria Salmon Kings, we are in a different country and we are CANADIAN EH!

As a K-Wings fan travel is not much of an issue, but I can see how it might be with some teams in the west being more remote. Games for us usually follow some sort of logical sequence so we don't seem to be hopping all over. I've always wondered that about Alaska and Victoria myself though. A single stop road trip could itself be very long!

I heard the Alaska Aces might be moving to San Diego.
