D-League will no longer operate the team. If a new owner is found, team will return.

See official press release on the D-League's website or here on OSC.

If a new owner isn't found(which I doubt), I'd expect the ABA's Florida PitBulls to join.

I doubt it personally...that sound you're hearing is that of the D-League pulling out of the East Coast (Fayetteville, Florida are next).

So are the Patriots dead, or will they seek local ownership?

I doubt the Flame would go out, because the Pit Bulls have applied, and this could start a good rivalry.

If the Pit Bulls have applied, the league probably would have announced by now.

Without Roanoke and Fayetteville, I seriously doubt any Florida teams will stick around. The Flame weren't exactly filling seats any better than anyone else.

The D-League needs to move on to markets it didn't waste with the way the NBA operated the NBDL to have ANY chance at success. Not that we should hold our breath with the new markets...

The Pit Bulls have applied, there is just no response from the D-League yet.

Do you have a link/article saying they applied?

Also, I too believe that the D-League would have accepted them by now if they did apply.

So...??? When will they move the Greenville office west?

Just wondering.

There's a news link from March 17 on the Pit Bulls OSC team page. If you want to see it, you have to pay a certain fee, though.

..Roanoke and Fayetteville were operated by the NBA.

So is Fayetville DEAD dead, or will they just have to find local ownership?

I know the latter is true for Roanoke.

The release suggests the former.

Well Fayetteville WILL NOT find a local buyer because the team has done nothing but lose money from day one. I never understood top level attendance and still could not break even. Maybe some other sucker city can make a go of it. I am sorry but the D-league is just a tax right off
