What the hell? Is there some death team quota these leagues have to meet?

The team deathwatch has become an annual ritual in indoor football.
How many teams will fold mid-season this year?

On the bright side, it's better than the ABA. They kill off about 1/3 of their teams during the season about every year.

It pains me to tell people that the Lincoln Capitals have passed away in there sleep. They are survived by the st joe storm who changed their name to the cyclones. They well be remember for the a** Kicking rapid city gave them. All the bodies will be cremated and left in the ashtrays of the Rapid city arena where they lasted got smoked.

The Lincoln Capitols may be dead in name only - word has it the Lincoln players will be the ones playing the road games for St. Joseph, while the former St. Joe Storm players play the home games.
Clear as mud? If not, it should be - just follow the NIFL another year or two and you'll see what I mean.
The last word given to the Lincoln group was that they wouldn't be playing anymore this season. They've come up with the funds to help the kids from St. Joe travel(probably in savings from not having to pay them)
The Lincoln group was told that they were coming back next year, but after the way they've been treated this year I would be surprised if many, if any, of them had any interest. You have to remember, even the few games that they played, and they were putting their roster together at the last minute, they weren't allowed to fill out a full roster. Only two linemen were able to go to Rapid City, the game in St. Joe was a mess.
It's been a mess from the get go.

I'm actually very pleased to hear that. Now we'll see just how "competitive" the St. Joe boys are and not give any excuses when their butts are handed to them on the road!

Don't forget Steubenville...At best, they're on life support and rumor has it they are postponing this weekend's game due to a scheduling error by the league. Huntington offered to play the game tonight, but Steubenville was "umable to assemble a team" that quickly, seeing as how they've had numerous players walk out after being given reduced or no pay. 0-7 isn't good either.

The team knew about this for some time. The arena was booked this weekend and the league and team rescheduled, but nobody told Huntington who then let their arena get booked. The team didn't want to travel on a short week with little notice.
The 6/10 game will be in Steubenville and the game in Huntington is tentatively scheduled for a day in May, but may result in Huntington playing two games on one weekend. I'll get confirmation tonight on when it'll be.

Right now, the date is still in question. The Stampede didn't know when it would be, as it's Huntington's home game that's in question. They just don't want to have to play a midweek game.

Word is that the Steubenville-Huntington game in Huntington may not be made up. The teams are still trying to confirm whether the 6/10 game will be in Steubenville as scheduled.

Add to life support:
Montgomery Maulers (NIFL) (a priest has been called to deliver last rites)
Rapid City Flying Aces (NIFL) (they can't find the owner. it sounds a lot like the Cincinnati Marshalls from last year)
Mover St. Joesph Storm (APFL) from life support to dead. The Capitals-Cyclones have been charged with reckless homicide in the Storms' demise.

Put Dayton (NIFL) in the on life-support column:

Palm Beach (NIFL) may have been hit with the paddles. Cincinnati says their game Saturday in Cincy is still on. If Palm Beach still exists, it may be as a road team.

Fayetteville has always been stronge when it come to the $$$ issue. I think we have to honest owners who really want to win and do things right. Hopefully they will keep football in Fayetteville for more than a couple years

Dead:
Carolina Ghostriders (AIFL) (a replacement road team has been formed out of the ashes
St. Joseph Storm (APFL) (seemingly forced out by NIFL Lincoln franchise)
Near death:
Lincoln-St. Joseph Capitals-Cyclones (NIFL) (almost kicked out of arena)
Dayton Bulldogs (NIFL) (kicked out of arena, looking for new home, money)
Arkansas Stars (NIFL) (almost kicked out of arena, players in revolt due to lack of pay)
Montgomery Maulers (NIFL) (Jamie LaMunyon disaster, appears to be saved at last minute for now)
Tennessee River Sharks (NIFL) (another LaMunyon disaster)
West Palm Beach Phantoms (NIFL) (no arena, playing as road team)
Rapid City Flying Aces (NIFL) (owner wanted by FBI, players, coaches, sponsors in three cities, may get new ownership group)
Big Sky Thunder (NIFL) (don't know the particulars, but Billings Gazette says they are struggling)
SHOULD finish season, but long-term future is in doubt:
Stuebenville Stampede (AIFL) (losses on field, nobody in stands)
Everette Hawks (af2) (brought money woes with them in jump from NIFL)
Fort Wayne Freedom (UIF) (money woes)
Ohio Valley Greyhounds (UIF) (money woes, fired coach claims he was underpaid -- usually a sign of money woes)
Peoria Rough Riders (UIF) (low attendance)

Place Dayton and West Palm Beach as "not just mearly dead, but indeed most sincerely dead," although replacement teams are filling in their schedule. WPB owner is suing anyone who plays replacement Phantoms and wants his equipment back.

Also add St. Joseph-Lincoln (rumored to be moving to Wahoo, Neb., to be the Wahoo Whoopies -- sorry) and Big Sky (the Sky has fallen). Give me a couple of days and I'll get a complete update. There's so much shake-up going on in the NIFL and AIFL that my head is spinning.

I have been an Odessa Roughnecks season ticket holder from the start, and I am also a Houston Texans season ticket holder from the start. The minor league football leagues all seem to have their share of troubles, but the games are as fun and as entertaining as the NFL as far as I am concerned. I sincerely hope the IFL is able to stick around and add a few new teams in the future. Our local owners have worked themselves silly trying to provide stability to the team and build a fan base. I want to compliment them and urge everyone to attend the games. No matter the league, the players and coaches deserve fan support.

The Wichita Aviators (APFL) site has an article about a game with a team called the Missouri Thunderstorm, based out of Kansas City, and that the team is a merger of the Missouri Thunder and the St. Joe's Storm. The head of the Missouri Thunder refutes this and says his team that is filling in an APFL St. Joe game has no ties to the Storm and that the Missouri Thunder is 2-0 in the Mid-American Indoor Football League. A later article with a game report calls the team the Missouri Thunder, not the Kansas City or Missouri Thunderstorm.
The Iowa Blackhawks site has the APFL standings with a note that the league has suspended the St. Joseph Storm.
