Word on the street is that Killbreath paid Nader off to withdraw his complaint and return to the iihl. Killbreath won that one and may just get away with fraud yet AGAIN.
Hopefully Athens and Ohio University are still going to press criminal charges but silence has been Killbreath's "get out of jail free" card yet again so it seems...

Hi Chris. First let me say that I cannot dispute anything that you have posted about Mike Killbreath at this point in time. But I would like to address this posting since I can shed some light on exactly what has happened.
Mike bounced a check to me for $1,000. Since bouncing a check is illegal, no matter whether you intended on having the funds available or not, I filed a complaint with the Police in my town to have them help me receover that money. The only complaint I made at that point in time was for the bounced check. The way this works is that the Police contact the person who signed the check and give them 5-days to make restitution befor ethey turn it ove the the prosecuting attorney.
Mike contacted me yesterday to notify me that he had a cashier's check to cover the bounced check. I talked with the Police department and they notified me that they had not contacted him yet and that the letters to be mailed were still in their office. Sicne Mike contacted me to make restitution for the NSF funds my only choice was to accept the funds and withdraw the complaint. Otherwise, his offer to make restitutuion would be denied by my company and there would be no recourse to collect after that.
Mike has not paid me in full for my services, but that is a totally different matter since he did not write checks for that money yet. From here I can wait for him to pay the remaining balance, turn it over to a collection agency or file in court. Those are my options.
I left messages with both Tim at the Athens Post and Steve with the Petosky News regarding this. Obviously at some point it was interpetted by someone that he paid me off. Once again the only complaint on the table with the police was the bounced check. Maybe someone would have walked away from $1,000 to prove a point but I am not in the financial situation to do that nor did I see a reason to. My family and providing for them comes first which is why I resigned on Jan. 8 shortly after I found that his check to me and others bounced.
Hopefully this will shed some light on what really happened as I think somehow people believed that I filed other charges then the bounced check, which was not the case.
Whether or not I file in court to obtain my other money is yet to be decided. Other people have said that they have evidence in black and white of Mike's wrong doings. All I have are the articles from the Athens Post which I do not dispute. However, I woul dopen myself up for a alwsuit if I tried to file charges for anything more than what I have evidence for. If Mike didn't pay and it went to the prosecutor for action, they might have decided to look deeper, I don't know. However, it never got that far. Also since his wife signed the checks it wasn't Mike the Police would go after but his wife. Their focus is to try to resolve the matter without it going to court. Since Mike was never contacted by the Police the charge was withdrawn when restitution was made. There was no indication in my talks with Mike that he had any knowledge that I had turned the check over to the Police.
I am by no means trying to vindicate Mike. I am just stating the facts as they apply in my situation. Hopefully you can understand the situation better after this explanation. Granted you probably have not heard of me prior to this since I have been working with local teams and leagues in the Detroit area prior to this but those who know me know what I stand for and I do not stand for people being taken advantage of in any situation. PLease do not judge me by the actions of a person that I agreed to work for as did more than 60 players and three GMs.
It seems that a lot of us have been shorted by Mike in this venture, which was my first time dealing with him, but I can only work within the limits of the legal system.
Heres to hoping and praying that nothing like this ever happens again.

The question remains:
Are you back in the iihl fold?

Since it seems to me a concern for everyone to know, I am not. I resigned on Jan. 8 and remain resigned. My company has secured work with other business both inside and outside of hockey and neither I, Off The Post Media Services or those business are affiliated with the IIHL.

Given my previous messages, I would request that the subject matter of these posts be changed by OSC. I do not mind the post remaining on the board but the subject line is completely false. I have responded to the questions in a truthful manner and would appreciate it being changed. I was not broken by Mike Killbreath, I am not working with the IIHL, Family Advantage Marketing, Xtreme Hockey or any other busines names that Mr. Killbreath may be a part of.
I run my own company and walk my own walk.
