The Ottawa Renegades are ceasing operations for 2006...well in advance of the beginning of the season.
Ottawa's players are suppose to be allocated to the remaining 8 teams so they can compete for jobs with their newly assigned team. What this means is the CFL will have approximately 32 less players (an entire team) this coming year in their league.
Tryouts will undoubtedly be cutthroat this spring in CFL camps with Ottawa's players being added to the mix.
Next highest paid league that is accepting ongoing tryouts is the AFL? (I assume the AFL does not have a trade deadline/signing deadline for new players). Any predictions on who might be added to (and cut from) AFL rosters based on the Ottawa situation?
Keep in mind, this will trickle down with cut AFL players trying to get jobs in AF2/UIF/NIFL, etc.
