The league is not what it look's to be from the outside-take the flyers who share their ownership with 3 other teams, they did not raise enough money to operate them for this season $1.6 million was split between the four teams when they needed to raise 6 million to operate for this season .The flyers changed the ticket prices in midseason from $8.00 to $10.00 for general admission and they have not had more than 800 at any game this season without giving the tickets away (average attendence 250)I could go on but I think you guy's get the idea, the flyers held a morning cool school game on this week and could only draw maybe 6 classes to the game it was a bad day and they had them sit up in the top of an empty arena until after halftime when they even could see we have a lot of empty seats.

Suge, judging from what I saw on TV, your numbers would be an improvement over what was happening in Charleston, Huntsville, Columbus, etc.

The NBA funds this, and I don't think they give a rat's posterior about attendance. It's a system that's cheaper than buying players from European teams, therefore they will probably lap the country with new franchises replacing old ones over the next 20 years.

.if the NBA was just looking for a parking space for cheap players, why wouldn't the CBA just contract with the CBA to provide that service for a fixed fee, like they did for over a decade before Isiah Thomas showed up? A lot less hassle and egg on their face when teams come and go, as they have in the D-League as they do in the CBA.

There's an idea. Make Isiah pay for the losses in the CBA out of his Knicks salary.

The new version of this league is not fund'ed by the NBA that project fail'ed now all of the teams are own'ed by people outside the NBA they keep trying to sell this big NBA connection but the few players who have come through are low level bench warmer's anyway .now they have sent a few guy's who did start a few games but shouldn't have been starter's as you saw when they were sent to the D league and those owner's do want people in the stand's give this new version 2 maybe 3 season's depending who can keep losing money.Robert Reed show'ed up at a Flyers game and made a fool of himself he was drunk and yelling plays to the player's from a courtside seat until halftime so much for family entertainment.

The D-League bought Idaho 2 years, probably no more. I have doubts they would have continued in the CBA. BTW, Idaho immediately announced an affiliation with Utah, and I'm pretty sure it'll be like the affiliation the ECHL team in the same building has with Dallas (Iowa is the AHL affiliate, and Idaho seems to send as many players to OTHER AHL teams)... in short, primarily for marketing purposes.

I'm not saying that D-League is a hallmark of stability by any means... but compared to the competition, it's stable enough.

For now, yes, we're talking about benchwarmers. My proposal to you is that the NBA sees kids coming out of high school and working through the D-League as an alternative for those who can't (or don't) go to college. The investment could be much cheaper than going through the college hype cycle without all the necessary skills.

Pounder, you have some point's but as you said the D is not what the hype machine is trying to tell us it is ,the only thing it has going for it that is cutting into the other league's is direct contact with the NBA teams and that is what is making it look as if this is what we have all been waiting for.But the real question is with an average of 250 to 300 people at the games for most teams how much money can those new owner's lose without any NBA money coming on board ? to save the league when even with the NBA machine behind it before it fail'ed.

Anyone interested in going to the flyers playoff game on Saturday they have lower'ed the ticket price from $10.00 from mid season which you were told when you came to a game to buy a what was $8.00 ticket at the start of the season that it was only for season ticket holder's which they had few and none of and had trouble paying some of the help. Now the league is trying to take on more team's and some of the one's they have are having money problem's in the first season.

Sounds like another great NBDL story.
