View Full Version : SWARM HAVE FOLDED!
It's all over for the Swarm.
That is what is holding up the af2 schedule.
Details to come later.

That very well may be true, but JBN now get's to join the message board EA (Egos Anonymous).
It is a disease where people who claim to have inside information, but cannot confirm their source, post all kinds of rumors, true or not, as FACT. Read it and weep.
He then (usually very low in self esteem) somehow thinks we will be impressed with him if his "inside info" is correct, when infact, we all still recognize him as a Egoholic.

Based on his track record, it wouldn't suprise me if Hamister is lying to his own staff about plans to fold the team... but JBN... why do you assume he is not lying to your source?

If these rumors are true (and I would not be suprised), I'm willing to bet that the straw that broke the camel's back was the AF2 sticking the Swarm in the Northeast Division. It probably tripled their travel budget.
Maybe threatening to fold is a negotiating ploy to get back into the midwest, or get some travel relief.

Well, I checked the arenafootball2 website, and I noticed the Cincinnati Swarm logo missing on the page marked "Teams". So, obviously, the Swarm really must be history after all. :(

This still doesn't change my opinions about loudmouth egoholics...
Loud mouth? Because I posted something that I knew and was not a rumor?
Sounds like your jealous.
Well, don't be. One day you will find some good sources for news. :)
CINCINNATI SWARM WILL NOT COMPETE IN 2004 SEASON
The Cincinnati Swarm of the arenafootball 2 (af2) will not compete in the upcoming af2 season. The agreement between the operator of U.S. Bank Arena and the Cincinnati Swarm of the af2 has been dissolved, effective January 27, 2004. Cincinnati Swarm officials notified the League that U.S. Bank Arena could not continue the relationship and that dates could not be made available to the team.
An agreement was formed in September of 2002 between Cincinnati Swarm, LLC (f/k/a Ohio Football Operations, LLC) and Arena Management Holdings LLC, to operate the af2 franchise and play their home games at U.S. Bank Arena. The unique relationship was an arrangement between the arena and the team with the arena responsible for sales and the team responsible for football operations. The Cincinnati Swarm completed their inaugural season at the Arena in 2003 finishing with a 7-9 record.
Despite the historical popularity of Arena Football in Cincinnati, the fan base did not develop sufficiently to allow the arrangement to continue and be financially viable. U.S. Bank Arena will continue its focus of bringing top-name entertainment to the Greater Cincinnati area.

I never said I thought your info was wrong. I acknowledged that it could be true (and that I wouldn't be suprised).
However, if you had been around the board longer than just three posts, you would know that it has been plagued by so-called inside info for many years. Most of it false.
On this board, we demand a higher standard than claims of inside information.
So true or not, bold claims like yours will be suspect if you cannot cite a source. Period.

The loudmouth egoholic part is because you and other announce your news as if we must believe it just because it comes out of your mouth. And expect us to then be impressed with your sources.
A responsible person would couch his information with disclaimers.

Of course we want to hear news and rumors. That's what these boards are all about.
But you still don't get it.
All we ask, is that if you have news, cite your source.
Otherwise label it an unverified rumor.
Anyone who expects us to BELIEVE something, just because they claim to have inside info, is the loudmouth "egoholic".
If you can get your mind and vocabulary out of the gutter, you might be able to draw this distinction.
I am speaking as a fan and a user of this board. What I say about this has nothing to do with my status as a moderator. If Paul wants to set rules like this its up to him. My job is to delete or modify posts of little boys who cannot control their foul language. We always seem to have too many of those.
I did read all the posts... Before the editing.. lol
My take is..
I didn't feel like the poster (s) expected anything from me..
Not to "believe" what they posted as the gods truth... Or anything of the sort....
They weren't dogging on anyone... Just reporting what they had heard... Which is the case a lot of times.. Most of the time incorrect I might add..
This time it was true... But I think a lot of us take most of what we read with a grain of salt... True or false.. I enjoy the banter...
But I can see where the poster would take offense to being called an "egoholic".. Not because what they posted was true.. But maybe being called a "name" in the first place.. And to be honest... I think I would rather be called an A****** as you were... Rather than an egoholic..
Maybe it's because most of us have been an A****** at one time or another...
Take Care All..

Bill,
You talk a lot of sense.
You're correct in that I started the name calling...
But if you've been around this board for more than a few months, you know how annoying some of the guys that claim inside information can be.
So, in this case, I acknowledge that I over reacted.
But that does not change my opinion that people should cite their sources. If they cannot, then they should shut up, or clearly label their info as unverified rumor. I do believe that many people who that post so-called inside info, without a source, are just trying to look like a big shot.
The real big shots don't hang around message boards.
Well shoot.... Just when I thought I was almost a big shot...
Dang it... I hate it when that happens.. :D
And to be honest... I wasn't trying to play the "you started calling names first" card either... Just a reminder that IMO most of us don't take any of this too seriously... At least not till we get to the games... lol
And yes.. I refrain from making statements about this or that happening.. Mostly cuz I don't have a clue..
Now yes.. I have written the APFL/The Koyotes and asked them several questions about the upcoming season... And what I received from them in a reply left me more than hopeful about 2004 and the APFL...
Why didn't I post it?... Well... Some of it (very suprisingly) was maybe something they wouldn't want repeated... And of course anyone else could email them and perhaps get the same answers... But bottom line... I didn't want to be the bearer of false news and look dumber than I already am.
heh
God I Love Football...
And please.... Take Care All
Jamie- or other board members. Do you know whether the team will auction off their gear? I'd love to get a cheap jersey. ANy news? Thanks.
