Raleigh Rebels have been under the AIFL after the owner Greg Ellies could no longer pay for the team. Players and Coaches have not been paid up to date for games played. The team is looking for ownership. Shame too, they have a great team!!!!!

Coach Reggie Smith of the former Ghostriders said on the local radio show that his check bounced.

What a shock...

What I hear the check was cancelled, not bounced because Reggie stiffed a hotel out of $600 in hotel bills, took $50.00 fee all the players paid to try out and pocked it, and left a rental car in the middle of the street, abandoned, with a $4,000 bill not paid for.

Smith's story is the night he was fired he was told they couldn't pay his room and his salary.

So where is Terry living? The local kennel?

The OWNER is responsible for living arrangements. Period.

Kind of hard to pocket tryout dues when the GM was THERE at the tryouts (as was I, Coach Lytle, the media, etc.), which was two weeks before the season.

IF that were true, he'd been fired by Dix sooner or arrested or both.

How do you run up a $4,000 car rental bill? My used van was bought for $3,000.

Can't buy that. Sorry.

The owner is only responsible for living arrangements if the contracts state they will pay it. At this point not enough information is provided as to if housing was part of the deal. The Ghostriders did have apartments setup, I stayed in one of them. Dont tell me the players got apartments, but the apartments were not offered to the coaches and General Managers.

If the owner was paying the bill for housing, I'm sure he would have put the coaches and the General Manager into an apartment to cut costs, especially since the apartments sat vacant for a month prior to us players moving into them.

According to the Asheville police department, police reports were filed on both David Dix, and Reggie Smith for the tryout money being missing, I know this because I was asked, along with other players, to sign papers for the police department stating that this money was given to Reggie Smith.

As for how do you ring up a $4,000 car rental bill, I can see that easily done, if your not expecting to pay the bill.

It doesnt make sence to me that an owner would agree to pay for a coaches housing, car rentals, salaries, allow the Coach to pocket tryout money, when they could have hired a local coach and saved themself a good bit of money.
