Looks like it could be a long season for the Marshals...76-34 losers to St. Louis. The QB three three picks and fumbled twice. Ouch

I wonder who played center. I saw from the Player Participation chart
that last year's center wasn't there. Could have something to do with
Kenner's performance, was he hurried a lot? - or just not used to the
indoor game. I figured they would get beat fairly bad - a 5 to 6 hour
bus trip on the day of the game and probably getting there a couple
of hours before game time couldn't have helped.
Yes, a very long season.

Has Dayton Played Yet??

It was our first game against one of the best teams in the league. We will look better on Saturday against Dayton, and we will be ready for River City when they come to Cincinnati on April 22nd.

Cincinnati is not that bad a team. They hung in with the Rage for most of the first three quarters. They just ran down in the fourth quarter and were outscored 35-7 because of the turnovers.
They will be better, they just hit a buzz saw in their season opener.
The QB, Deets looks to be the biggest loss for the Marahals from last season and Tobias Deans, the receiver.
Defensively, they held the Rage to only 62 yards of offense at the half, so they are capable.
Don't wirte them off yet. They have the potential to be a good team.

I haven't seen any promotion for this Saturday's game.
With new owners and more front office people I expected
a little more "buzz" about the Marshals this year.
I hope the players and the front office have a lot of friends
and relatives to come to the games.
Other than the inner circle, I don't think many people
know the Marshals are playing this year.
I change my attendance prediction to 1,000 to 2,000.

More Front office people???? There are no front office people...I challenge you all to call 513-381-turf...the Marshal team office line and try and get a live person. I know a lady that works in the box office down there and they said there is a girl that is down there once a week in the office to help them out. All three of the new owners have full time jobs, so they cant be down there and run it like a business.

Who On This Board Will Be At Opening Night On Saturday??

So, where are all the Marshals fans hanging out?
There used to be a bunch of them on the old NIFL message board...

jackball333
04-03-2006, 09:34 AM
HOW MUCH OF THAT WAS ACTUALLY PAID ATTENDANCE??? I would guess about half??
Gunsmoke
04-03-2006, 12:32 PM
I don't care how many paid.
If the ones who didn't pay, had a good time, they might come back
and pay next time.
And if they don't - - - I don't care, Jackball.
I just like to post something so you can
reply. That's all I post for.

Why would you care if they paid....you arent one of the owners of the team are you Gunsmoke????

who cares as long as there are butts in the seats --- if you present a good product they will be back --- go copperheads

Everyone should care how many people pay to see the game. It speaks directly to the viability of the franchise.
Gunsmoke
04-04-2006, 10:17 AM
I repeat - I don't care.
The exact number doesn't concern me.
The owner said he was very satisfied.
If 4,100 paid or if 3,900 paid or if 3,000 paid, I DON'T CARE -
it was a good crowd especially with the final four going on.
I've heard a lot of people say it was fun and they were coming back.
There was a very long line for autographs after the game, a lot
of people were entertained, and they will tell other people.
Get a grip.
If I said the turf was green, somebody would say it wasn't.

You made your point, you don't care. So ignore any attendance talk then. Others care. Let them discuss it. It's an honest and important question, whether you care or not.
Gunsmoke

You missed my point completely.
It was a good crowd. Period.
You and the other person on this thread can discuss it.

Why would someone who doesn't care make sure that he continually answers all posts on the subject?

WOW...a tale of two weeks...release dontey horton who cant play for you he scores two TD's on you and you get blown out by a team you should have blown out.

what happend on the field after the game??? I heard Ray jackson was thrown out of the game.
Jamie
04-11-2006, 09:42 AM
How can you get thrown out of the game... after the game?
There were a few scuffles during the game (with a penalty following one of them), and another when the game ended. But they were broken up quickly.
Gunsmoke

Just your normal fights during the game.
Ray Jackson received an unsportsmanlike penalty which probably cost a
touchdown - (with a penalty on the defense the ball would have been
on the 3 yard line with a first down - but Jackson's penalty put the
ball back on the 13 with it being 3rd or 4th down). It happened
late in the third, the TD would have tied it up or put them one score away.
What happened to Kenner? Was he hurt or sat down.
Ellis did OK at first with a TD but then threw a couple of picks.
The Marshal's deep pass protection needs a lot of work -
they were constantly beat deep. It was too easy.
They didn't cost the game, but the refs were terrible.
Several times they didn't know what down it was and placed the ball
at the wrong place several times. Called an extra point good, then bad
then good again.
Billy Back is a very good kick returner.
The kicker (Breech?) looked like a seventh or eight grader out there.
jackball333
04-11-2006, 12:48 PM
I thought Breech got cut.
Gunsmoke
04-12-2006, 06:11 AM
The PA announcer was calling the kicker Breech all night.
He looked different than the kicker in the first game.
Who it really was I don't know, (no names on the uniforms)
at first I thought it might be the owner's kid dressed up
in the Marshal's uniform, he was that little.

What did the Marshals do in MOntana???

Does Anyone In Cincinnati Know That The Marshals Play This Week And That Marvin Lewis Will Be Tossing Up The First Coin.
Gunsmoke
04-20-2006, 12:33 PM
I know they play.
Didn't know about Marvin.
The Enquirer had a big story about Breech in Wednesday's
sport section. Believe me, he looks a lot smaller in person
than he appears in the photo in the paper.

The Marshals have been in the Enquirer on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Also, Billy Back was on 980 this morning. There will be a story in the Middletown Journal on Friday with Billy Back handing out tickets at AK Steel. We have als been on 1530 all week. Shayne Graham is kicking field goals at halftime, and tickets for military and college students, with ID, are buy two get one free.

That would be great if the team were in dayton (980) or middletown (middletown journal)...how about buying some commercials...and who is listening to 1530...it is a political talk station and is the lowest ranked station in the market.
For the record, the 980 Homer sports station in Dayton is a simulcast of the parent 1360 Homer in Cincinnati. So the interview was heard in both markets. Also, 1360 later that day had Bengals kicker Shayne Graham on, who is performing a halftime kicking exhibition for charity, talking of this weekend's game vs. the Rage. Today, Bill Cunningham's show on 700 WLW in Cincinnati had Marshals kicker Dan Breech and his dad Jim (former Bengals kicker) talking about the game also. So that, along with the articles this week in the Enquirer, has given the Marshals quite a bit of pub. Probably much more so than wasting $ on a few radio and TV spots. I predict a crowd similar to the Dayton game, perhaps a few more...

If Kenner broke his ankle Saturday night and Ellis is the quarterback
the rest of the season, the Marshals will not come close to
winning another game. The phrase "deer in the highlights"
describes his play.
Put George Murray at quarterback.
Get rid of the 115 coaches (really 14 or 15) and get the coach that
came here the last half of the season, and one for defense, that's
all you need - TWO COACHES.
A lot of players have Div. I experience and some have lettered
4 years at Div. I level, do you think a coach that MAYBE drove
through a campus in a car would have any input on how to play.
All you need is a head coach with indoor experience to call the plays.
The best thing that happen to the Marshals last year was when Ed Biles
and the entire coaching staff left. They had no clue about indoor
football.
New coaches, Murray at quarterback - or else it's over.
