We've been treated to two amazing games. The San Jose nailbiter was a heck of a comeback by the Razorsharks to get to the finals. They managed to do the same thing today. SoCal led most of the game, and the Razorsharks appeared to be in rough shape. But -- as they have all season -- they came through in the clutch.

Demond Stewart was the best player this weekend IMO, and he had 27 points today. Chris Carrawell had 23 and earned MVP honors. Lazaraus Sims was playing hurt and put forth a great effort, as did Reeves. Keith Friel was also key from outside. So it was a great team effort. The coach commented that he promised they'd never quit and fans would get their moneys worth, and they did every game.

It was great to see in excess of 6,400 there today. The lines at the box office were huge. The place was certainly loud. Finally, for all that needs to be fixed in the ABA, it's clear that there are some teams that are doing it right. All eight teams were very skilled. Closs and Dupree were both very impressive today. Now if the league can focus on making sure everyone else does things the right way.

All in all, I'm happy for the ownership, players and fans of the Razorsharks. The team is a class act. The title is well earned. To give you an idea, the owner invited one of the team's most loyal fan's and his family out to dinner with his family yesterday. Not a bad move. He gets it.

I think all you need to know about the ABA you can find on their current website. Coming off what most are admitting was a successful playoff series, what is the main picture on the site? Not a shot of the Razorsharks celebrating or the fans storming the court. It's Joe Newman's niece playing in some local youth league. And he's wanting to double the size of the league for next year? I can't help but wonder is that double the number of teams that started in '05 or double the number of teams that finished?

My count has the ABA currently at 61 teams, but many of that includes teams like Ontario, Orange County, Los Angeles and Inglewood, which were either not playing home games or were around only on paper (or the website) at season's end. The number of teams that will start next season will probably be much smaller.

I had to laugh -- during his championship presentation he somewhat excitedly announced the league will be doubling the amount of teams. After the comment, it was as quiet as it had been during the entire postgame celebration. If all these teams have proper backing (to get them through a season) it's a good thing. Past experience indicates otherwise though. We'll see.
