I'm looking for any information anyone might have on the sale of the Lock Monsters.
Last I heard if the team is not sold by April 18th (I think that's the exact date) they will fold, as the current owner will not commit to another season and that is the scheduling commit date.
I've also heard that Albany or Hersey might be interested in moving to Lowell if the team is sold and if they can come up with 1500 season tickets. Another variation on this rumour is that New Jersey is looking to purchase the team and move Albany in. Again, this is based on 1500 season tickets.
Anyone have any further information or rumours to share?

From the Lowell Sun... the worst newspaper on the planet Earth. I'm embarrassed to point you in their direction, but they did answer my question

The New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League purchased the Lowell Lock Monsters and will keep them in Lowell for the next two seasons.
The Devils' former AHL affiliate was the Albany River Rats, but now their AHL affiliate will now be Lowell.

I've never read the Sun, but I can say they did get one fact wrong in the linked story about the sale of the team. Reading that article was a blast from the past and leads me to a topic that I never would have thought that I would be posting here. The previous owner, Elkin McCallum, has not owned Joan Fabrics since 2001. Since he is local, I would have thought they would know that. He sold Joan to my former employer, Collins & Aikman, in 2001. He was placed on the C&A Board of Directors but resigned after a whistle blower exposed insider dealings between him and the company. He received 6% or so ownership in C&A as a part of the sale. C&A is now in chapter 11 bankruptcy, making his 6% virtually worthless. The "competing obligations from his other business interests" must include trying to salvage some of his 6% stake in C&A from the trash heap. He sold his company, but stayed on in a smaller role. Now the company is bankrupt. He sold his team, but will stay on in a smaller role. In a few years the team will be ...........
